Tony Joe White...When I saw the thread on CCR I was reminded of the time they were in their heyday and their type of music was referred to as "Swamp Music"in a purely complimentary manner.Tony Joe was often called a one hit wonder with Polk Salad Annie but was quite successful gigging around the US.I haven't heard anything about him for years, are there any T.J.W. fans out there who know what he's up to these days?

I forgot about Tony Joe White...How could I forget Rainy Night in Georgia? That was an awesome song. I haven't heard that name in a long time though.

Thanks for the link Martian,it's great to see that he's still gigging at 67-he's another monster talent who never got the recognition he deserved.

Tony gigged a lot in the UK in the 70s after that I didn't see him. Looking at his tour schedule he will be in Norway and then Australia this spring. Poke Salad Annie is one of my favorite songs from 69. Thanks for the link Martian and the post guitslinger. 8)

Hey Tim...I think it was Brook Benton did Rainy Night in Georgia..Hank Jr also covered it. Ray Charles, George Benson as well. Tony Joe White wrote the song but I've never heard his version.

I think what Tim meant was that Tony Joe White wrote it,as he has written hits for other big stars too.Rod Stewart recently did a cover of Rainy Night.... also.

You're quite welcome. Frankly, I think the vast majority of monster talents shall never get the recognition they deserve.
