As for Jerry, I learned to dance at The Greatful Dead, both on the floor and on the Fretboard. I never would have explores Country if it weren't for the Grateful Dead. Let's not leave out Bob Wier, "Rhythm Man Extrordinaire".

While we're on Jamm Music, let's remember Little Feat's Pual Barres, Fred Tacket, and Lowell George. (and the Oedipal crush I have on Shawn Murphy)

I was in a band once and we did $@!&# and beer and we also covered why does it hurt when I pee. I'd love to get a band to do some San Berdino and Florentine Pogen (one of my fave frank tunes to play).

Lucky dog, I watned to do the Devil PArt real bad. I always wanted to do San Berdino also. I live in the San Bernardino Mountains, so it's always had a special place for me.

Hey thats cool I live in the san bernardino area too. I live in ontario. Frank Zappa is another one of my favorites he is probably one of the most influential if not commercially succesful musicians from any era. Though I do think he did quite well for himself in his day.

I used to road trip to Ontario and Ontario Mill with my Freinds (we'd go to Venice Bech and the Hollywood Guitar Center for longer Road Trips).I always go to the Ontario Airport if I need to fly. Isn't there a Sam Ash in Ontario? I usually go to the Guitar center in San Bernardino on Hospitality, next to Costco.

Little Feat is one of the great bands of all time. Always under appreciated and unsung. Especially when Lowell was alive. Incredible funk and soul--guitar playing to die for.

The Dead were a wasted hippy-dippy band. My band opened for em in Boston, they got booed off the stand. I felt sorry for em. I mean, Jerry was a really nice guy, they all were. They deserved better. Plus they did have one guy who could play: Pig Pen could really cook on that B3!

But really, a slacker-stoner jam band like the Dead couldn't lick Little Feat's strings. Every pothead garage band in the late 60's sounded like the Dead. Because nobody could play.

The legacy of the original Little Feat is probably bigger now than back in the 70's. Greatness will out. In Heaven, Jerry is changing Lowell George's strings right now. And lucky to get that gig.

The "New" Line up is extremely good as well. Fred Tacket and Paul Barres make a goos team, and I've always like female vocals. Carole king, Natalie Merchant, Ann Wilson, and so forth. Shawn Murphy has a very good Soulful Voice. I do wish I could have seen them with Lowel, however.

When I saw the Dead in '93 they were great, I thought, "How do they get the reputation for being a sloppy band?" Then I seen them the next night, and they were like a bunch of kids in the garage. Bob and Jerry were playing against each other and Phil was no where near the beat. The next year was the same thing, one good, one bad. I'll take a Little feat Concert any day. I've been to 3 Show, and all three were different, and all three were excelent.

The Feat are huge idols of the studio guys in LA and NY. When you hang out with them, and some Feat tune or another comes up, the really hip triple-scale guys light up. "Whoa, Spanish Moon! Dig what the drummer is doin on that thing! Insane!!!" I can kind of see why they never took off too huge with average consumer folks, these guys are waaaay up in the monster stratosphere, doing stuff that even musicians can barely follow. The way they created these incredibly interlocking funky riffs off each other and made it all come together is awesome. You find yourself going "Where's the beat???" Then it comes slamming in on cue and it blows your mind.

The Dead were like me jamming with a bunch of game programmers after hours at EA. Yes, we suck chain gun grease, but at least WE'RE having a good time.
