My sympathies to those who lost their loved ones. They say 2000 bodies were washed ashore so far. Mojo and condolences towards Japan.

Mainland Japan just had another earthquake in the 6 range near Tokyo. No big details yet.

Don't mean to be a pri.ck, but your prayers won't help a lot.
It would be great if everyone would donate a few bucks in order to help those in need.
Thoughts and prayers aren't going to feed them, consider making a donation through the Red Cross.
Already did mine.

They are in need of our help, everyone can do something.

Saw a pic that summed up this whole disaster :( if I can find it online, I'll post it. Just a young girl sat in the town that was washed away, breaking her heart crying :( It really did bring it all home to me, I'm still sending prayers and mojo. And for the non spritual amongst us, I made a donation too.

8.9 is insane. That type of force should level a whole city,

I looked up the Loma Prieta (the quake we had in the Bay Area in '89) quake on google to get an idea of the strength of the quake in Japan. Loma Prieta was a 7.1 and that nearly brought the entire bay area to our knees, I can't begin to imagine the force of an 8.9 quake.
My thoughts and prayers are with the Japanese right now; especially the ones who are still unable to locate their family members. I pray that they'll be able to find some peace and be able to come to terms with this horrible tragedy.

The earthquake in Japan has been upgraded to 9 on the richter scale. Over here we have regular quakes called Suðurlandsskjálfti (Southlandquakes), the last one was actually, in 2008, two quakes at the same time was 6,3 ricther and in June 2000 there was 6,5 and 6,9 on richter. I can't even begin to think about what 9 on richter feels like, I got a little nervous when we got couple of quakes at 4 richter jus couple of weeks ago.

Yeah, I just heard today that they had changed from saiying it was an 8.9 up to 9  That is unbelievable. We had a small quake in the bay area a few days ago, nothing that got more than 10 seconds on the local newscast. I have been wondering who is next on the list for an earthquake. After NZ and now Japan, it seems like the tectonic plates may not be settled yet, we're about due for another one here in the Bay Area. I guess we'll eventually see if the billions spent in earthquake retrofits was worth it.

All I heard is that it is still leaking radiation into the local area...I haven't heard on what scale though.

Yeah- at the moment there is a lot of tension in the fault below Wellington NZ- that will be a big fatal one when it happens because the fault line runs through the city. Wellington is way overdue. There is still a lot of paranoia around Christchurch too. Japan still has tension to the south of the epicentre of the last quake- given the pattern of aftershocks they are still predicting another quake.

On a side note I sent a message to Ishibashi and the Head of Markting, Jeff replied back and said there was radiation around Tokyo that is causing complications. He is praying and wishing the horror will end. He also felt sad about NZ too and the many Japanese english language students that died in the CTV buiding in the christchurch quake.

Now get this lads. Lastnight 6pm news were going to do a story on the reactor, and it was pulled right at the last minute, to be replaced with another story that was totally insignificant, it didnt even need to be on the news.. Do you think that the media are trying to stop hysteria around the nuclear reactor problems? what do you think?

You wanna bet?

Anyway, here's a little update from this morning.
A summary taken off the website of The Guardian:

Guardian, London wrote:
9.37am (6.37pm JST): It's time now for a summary:

• The situation at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant remains extremely perilous and seemingly beyond the control of authorities. Staff at the plant were moved to safer areas for a period this morning after radiation levels rose.
A fire broke out at the No 3 reactor, sending a plume of light grey smoke – possibly radioactive steam – above the plant. Helicopters carried containers of water above the complex but were unable to dump them, reportedly due to the high radiation levels.

• The country faces an increasingly desperate humanitarian crisis caused by the direct effects of Friday's huge earthquake a resultant tsunami, one made worse by freezing weather.
The official death toll has now hit 3,676, with 7,845 people registered as unaccounted for. Survivors, many of them homeless, are struggling with a wave of cold weather forecast to last well into this week, with night time temperatures dipping to -5C in some places.

• Japan's emperor, Akihito, has made a rare TV appearance to express his condolences to his people and his worry at the nuclear situation.

• Following its precipitous plunge yesterday, Tokyo's stock market bounced back nearly 6%. Japan's central bank has injected a further $40bn into the financial markets.

Also, France's government "highly recommended" it's citizens to leave Japan or at least move to the south of the country, hinting that they did not trust the official Japanese reports on the state of things.

Guardian wrote:
10.08am (7.08pm JST): To reinforce my earlier points about the freezing weather, below is an AP picture from today showing firefighters searching for survivors beneath a collapsed road flyover in Otsuchi, on Japan's north-east coast. More or less the entire town was destroyed on Friday; thousands of people are existing in the snow with no home or possessions.Image
