well the only song i used to know was, of course, 'no rain'. but i started listening to their first album today, i realized: i was born in '91, how the heck did i miss them!?! there isnt a single bad song on that album! blind melon was definitely one of the last good bands, before music died in the late 90s. they seem incredibly underrated.

I have been a longtime fan of Blind Melon. I love the guitar work of Christopher Thorne and Roger Stevens. They weave their parts together so well. Its too bad Shannon Hoon had to OD (like many of the greats). Unfortunately I never got to see them. They came through my town before I got into them, and they came back a couple of years ago with a new singer and I thought it wouldn't be the same. I have the album with the new singer and it is good but not as good as they used to be. There is definately something missing. I guess that singer is no longer with them and they called it quits.
I'd have to say my favorite Blind Melon song is Change. I am going to have that song played at my funeral.

Can't say I ever cared for them. At the time I was one of those people who was still pissed off that alternative music killed off metal.

I was one of the people that was glad it did...

I was so sick of the spandex-wearing big-haired dudes playing pointy-headed heavy metal guitars with no tone at 200 bpm, that a little anti-virtuosity was a welcome respite.

Good to see a post for one of my all time favourites. Love pretty much everything they did, including "For My Friends" with Travis warren on vocals. Great straty tones all the way through. :D

Oi! I'm not a Metal-er but.... There's absolutely nothing wrong with wearing spandex or Big Hairy dudes.

Its a fact, wearing skin tight spandex doesn't just enhance the size of one's hair....

I'm going to go poke my brain with a Q-tip until that image is pushed out of my mind forever.

Big Hair--maybe
Spandex--err..no
Pointy-headed heavy metal guitar--definitely not.

What!?!... Oh I see...

Well if your crude mind will conjure such things... Its pretty clear I was referring to how spandex makes my Epic Socks look even more fabulous than they already are.

It's funny... I went off metal on my own accord sometime in the mid 2000s. These days, I tend to have a strong preference for music from before I was born. I still dislike Alternative.

I liked the work Shannon did with Guns N' Roses. His vocal is on Don't Cry, November Rain, Live and Let Die, You Aint The First and The Garden.

Was never much a fan of his own band though.
