Go to the website and find your way to the Clapton auction catalog. The sale prices are found in red ink at each lot number. The sale totalled $2.2 million.

WOW :!: The guitars and amps prices where understandable...but an amp stand for $8K+ :?: Don't get me wrong, I am a huge Clapton fan, but an amp stand? Thank goodness the money is going to a good cause and my guess is that since Lee Dickson is no longer working for Clapton I bet the warehouse of equipment must be empty.

Interestingly enough, some of the amps went for under $2K if my memory serves me. I estimated the reserve I would have needed pretty accurately. My own interests centered around the T-mobile guitar, the blue Stratosonic, and the Elite, not because they were connected with him, but because they were unique pieces, by history, design, and builder . Together they brought nearly $60K and I figured I'd need $100K in reserve to remain competitive.
That T-Mobile I was sure would have been a guitar of interest to Alain. It had a really beautiful top, even moreso up close and personal.

Though up close and personal, that guitar appeared as nothing but gauche, I would think that someone viewed that guitar, as I did, as a milestone piece in JB's career, a kind of parting of the ways through a gentlemanly offer of generosity, and a nod to his mentor. I give him credit for that. He's a class act in many respects. I look forward to seeing him perform on Long Island in two weeks.

That guitar was certainly a staple for him in live shows...Blues Deluxe will never be the same. Joe's comment on Facebook after the auction sounded like he had just sold a child into slavery. He seemed pretty bummed that it was gone, which makes his kind gesture that much more generous IMO. I have yet to see Joe live on anything more than DVDs and YouTube, but I will change that this year. Hands down my favorite musician right now, and like you said doc, a class act.

Interesting. I would have thought his gesture to be less bittersweet given the whole Fender issue and the public position on it. Clapton had come to terms in that regard when he gave up Blackie. His point of vew is well documented in the '04 catalog and pretty much boiled down to 'it was time to move on', is sole concern being that it would find a good home. I expect that, having been replicated, it's done that many times over, even to the tune of being auctioned over again, of a fashion.
