I grew up on CCR, well at least older. Always get a lift when I hear their music.

For me, it will always be The Oak Ridge Boys (first concert I ever attended), anything off of the Eagles "Their Greatest Hits (1971-1975)", and probably the Four Tops -- all remind me of riding in our Olds Delta 88 down to visit Granny when I was a kid, climbing into the front seat, back into the back seat...

Did I mention we never wore seatbelts in my family until I was 15 and saw "Red Asphalt"? :o

Listened to Cosmos Factory like a billion times as a youngster. Love em all but their version of Heard it Through the Grapevine is great with an awesome and loooong guitar lead.

Okay, so having gone on a CCR listening binge, I've arrived at the following conclusion:

What makes them great isn't musical virtuosity or the production values...

What makes them great is how raw and honest the music sounds.

Couldn't have said it better gar.

Even though I was born in the wrong decade and that I'm only 19 I've a huge fan of CCR. Such an awesome band. I like all their songs, particulary Traveling Band, Suzie Q, Proud Mary, Have you Eve seen the Rain?, Hey Tonight, Molina, Before you Accuse Me and the list goes on.

It brings me in a good mood every morning when I'm driving to school.

Hey man, they're a little before my time too, but music knows no boundaries. 8)

Heck yeah -- I listen to Hank Williams. And he died a couple of years before I was born.

I listen to old hank too, and he died decades before I was born. A lot of my favorite music was old news already by the time I discovered it.

Somewhere in my CD collection is the big-ass collection of everything Hank Sr. ever recorded. What a great musician!

+1

Right on......I was just thinking of that!

Linda Ronstadt's is also a nice version.

CCR didn't do any clunker songs that I know of. When you heard on of their songs you knew it was CCR, but they always sound good.

+1...Every time I put on a CCR track I haven't heard in a while it's like discovering the music all over again. That's how you know it's good; when it blows your mind after you've heard it a thousand times.

Don't hold your breath for that Arjay. I wouldn't count on either of them going down in musical history. I'm sure that back in CCR's day, there were plenty of horrible musicians that we don't remember anymore. But a large percentage of today's music will be long forgotten. The lack of good music being made at the current time is saddening to me. That's why I just keep going back through my collection of old vinyl and rediscovering the music that inspired me to pick up the guitar in the first place. My 86 year-old great aunt always has a new record or tape for me to listen to when I go see her. And I go to her house at least twice a week.

LMFAO!

Indeed......anybody laboring under the assumption that either of those two rump-swabs will ever be regarded as "classic" is a couple of fries short of a happy meal.
