Hey guys/girls Im new to this so be gentle lol! Bought a heavy relic 1959 re- issue strat. Awesome guitar but need a great amp as well. I play alot of Stevie Ray/Mayer style stuff. I tried a Fender Supersonic the other day and absolutely loved it. Will this be loud enough for small gigs and three piece??? Also tried the VibroKing custom shop which (beliieve it or not i preferred the sonic) any advice!

Hey Georgie, welcome aboard.

Just so you know, there is a "Modern Guitar Amps" section where you could probably get a lot of feedback. There are also many threads regarding the Supersonic to browse through. 8)

I like the VK. It's not a 2 channel amp but the foot switchable Fat feature makes it workable as such. IMO if you can afford the VK then it's a no-brainer.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

the supersonic is a great amp, it should be loud enough for most things although if you want "LOUD" then have a look at the blues deluxe or something in that range...

What size venues do you play?

How big is your band?

A SuperSonic 22 should be loud enough for a three- or four-piece band, if you're playing in small or medium-sized clubs.

If you're playing larger auditoriums/theaters and/or you have a five-piece (or bigger) band, you might look at the Supersonic 60...or you could just always mic the Supersonic 22 through the PA.

The Vibroking would be great for either situation, but they are loud. If you want natural tube breakup, you're going to be way too loud for most small club situations...you'll have to have an overdrive pedal.

My 40 watt Vibroverb is a great size--loud enough to be heard in any situation, but not so loud that it makes your intestines twist.

If you mic an amp and run it through a PA, just about any amp will be loud enough. The flip side of this is that higher wattage amps may be too loud if you're looking to get the tube breakup, as was just mentioned.

Never played a VK, but I'm sure they are great.

Man how I want a Super sonic though... I have GAS attacks everytime I look into the amp room and see the pretty little blonde sitting in the corner.

I think it would be loud enough for a 3 piece band. We barely crank it past two when we play around with it... god only knows how loud it can be at the max...

My personal opinion, is that the SuperSonic22 is one of, if not the best sounding amp fender has put out in many years; with the exception of reissues of classics of course. That low wattage (~15 - ~30 watts) is perfect for gigging situations in most bars, night clubs etc. The supersonic is a really nice sounding amp, and like was said already, you can achieve some great tones without having to turn the amp up to painful and annoying (to other band mates) volume levels. Just my 2 cents. Both are great amps, but the supersonic is probably the more versatile of the two. Good luck in your search.

I vote for the SuperSonic! I would love to have one, but, What would I do with it but get evicted from my apartment. I think the 22 would be plenty loud. 8)

Little amp huh? Am I correct in assuming that means you're going with the supersonic?
