saw led zeppelin in 77

flash forward to this last weekend. our local symphony has a show with a zeppelin "tribute" type of band. decided to go and check it out. it was especially great because 3 of the 4 guys i went to the original concert with were with me as well.

started off with "good times bad times" and i knew all was well. did a killer "rain song", and of course "kashmir". great show. guitarist was great, singer was too. all around fun night.

anybody seen this type of show with any other bands? i know the moody blues toured with orchestras backing them .

77... :?:
Are you sure :?: I saw Zep in Indianapolis in 75 and by all accounts that I read, that was their last tour in the 70's....
I just wikipeded... and you are right, lucky you, that was a short tour beset by tragedy and mayhem.

The Moody Blues I have seen with an orchestra, as far as Zep. with a string ensemble... No that is not for me.

I did go see Alison Kraus and Robert Plant @ Mohegan Sun Casino 2 years ago. It was a formidable concert, ( not to wonder concerning the bands line up ) however the venue was depressing. It was the 3rd time that I have stepped into a Casino, Nice, Monaco and Uncasville.
Each time it is a wretched experience when you look at the people there who can least afford to be throwing money out the window.( sorry had to include that.)

i know -zep with strings doesn't sound thrilling at first, but let me tell you, the orchestra was very respectful.

they did not play on every part of every song- just where it was needed. they did play completely on "kashmir", had some nice sounds on "stairway", and played appropriate parts of other songs. as posted before, "rain song" was spectacular :D

they did let the band lay on its own for a while. i didn't hear one bit of disappointment from the audience.

Why does, "Janis Joplin Performs Beverly Sills" pop into my head?
