I am currently taking lesson (in Canada) at Long & McQuade. They charge $20 per lesson. These lessons last 30 minutes.

Hope that helps you.

Lesson prices seem to vary. My mom is currently taking fiddle lessons for $20 an hour. First he started her off once a week, then changed it to every other week, now it's back to once a week for all his students. He's just wanting more money, can't really blame him though.

52 weeks = year
13 weeks = season (3 months)

$31 per lesson seems steep unless you are getting a very long, weekly lesson.

Around my area the going rate seems to be $20/half hour; so if you're getting an hour for that $31, that would be good.

You need to find out what a season means befor you commit... and I wouldn't commit too much until you've had a coupla lessons to make sure you get on OK with the tutor

The reason they do it by "season" is they know the majority of people will sign up for the season then drop out after a month or two. They have your money even if you aren't going.
In Winnipeg, the standard rate seems to be about $18 for a half hour session. I am going to Long and McQuade for my lessons.

I m taking lessons in Ontario at Long and Mcquade for 19 bucks a half hour and you only have to pay for a month at a time. Plus they give you the option of switching teachers on the fly(schedule permitting). So if you dont vibe with someone you can try someone else. Or switch from style to style.

Maybe you should try to find someone who isnt a guitar "teacher" by trade, but just a guitarist who is better then you and can get you started. The first"lessons" I took were from friends and other guitarist who were better then me. I learnt alot really quick and most of them did it for beyond fair prices. Its just a thought.

Thanks for the advice. I just recently found out that by "Season" He means from September until June. Thats kind of a big jump seeing as how you can't schedule individual lessons to see if you like him.
