Jimmie Page--I love his music and his creativity (I put him in the top ten of all time for creativity) but he's a sloppy, inconsistent player.

BB King--Once again, I love his music--he moves me. Great singer, wonderful band leader, amiable and gracious recording/performing partner...but his guitar playing quit evolving in 1963. I love him, but I always thought that Muddy Waters was the King of The Blues...

Tom Sholtz--I don't like his music. I appreciate the complexity of his songs, and I know he can play circles around me. I also know that he is a brilliant guy who went to MIT and invented an amplifier the size of a sandwich. But, besides those accomplishments, he recorded five albums worth of the same song. I kinda like "Smokin'" and that's it.

Can't possibly tell who is over or under rated without seeing the ratings. Who has rated all guitar players, and where is the list? :idea:

I didn't mention Malmsteen because I don't consider him a guitarist. He's a knowledgable stuntman, not a musician.

I dont really believe in overrated or underrated guitarist. Just like I dont believe there are "better" guitarist. There are levels for sure. My teacher is going to know more then I do but every once in a while I do something and he goes "whoa wait show me how to do that." We can all learn from each other, and until one guy knows and perfects it all, no one is better. No one is over or underrated. Just guitar.

The only way I could approach this was to think of famous guitarists I don't like since I couldn't justify any ratings I came up with:
The Edge (play the blues Edge);
Malmsteen (despite cracking up at the above comment);
Peter Frampton - I didn't listen to him when I was younger so maybe I'm missing the context.
