Synyster Gates-yes, a shredder, but extremely technical and well versed in theory (he studied jazz guitar in college)

Eric Johnson-Most guitarists could never match his speed and passion with twice the distortion he uses

George Harisson-Harisson was in the 60's what Eric Johnson is today. Although he never played particularly fast, that proved to be a good thing as his riffs and solos are one of the most intriguing and fun to listen to of any guitarist ever
