You want to store your guitars in their cases standing up so a closet is usually a good option...but seriously if you want something that you can move around a luggage rack like the type you see at the airport would probably be a good option, not sure where to buy one, but it's probably be pretty easy to find...hth.

Keeps the tension off of the neck. Everything I've read says not to store them lying flat in the cases. Alainlafrance clued me into this in an old post, and after researching, it turns out he was right.

It is saying do not stack them as in weight bearing. I see no reason why they cannot be stored laying down on shelving.

Conundrum.

You make a good point. Maybe somebody with more knowledge on the matter will stop by and clear that up.

I keep nearly all of my guitars hanging Fender guitar wall hangers in a temperature and humidity controlled room. It's rare for any of them to go a week without being played and it seems like a lot of hassle to be constantly dealing with cases. Is here some imminent doom I'm flirting with here?

just collect less guitars.

if you stack them the bottom one becomes load bearing.

just stand them up like everybody else does.

My Tele hangs on the wall as well, I've had no problems with any guitars that I've had hanging.

I've always wondered about why we shouldn't store them laying down, too...how many pristine "under-the-bed" guitars have we read about?

The "Big Stack o'Guitars" load-bearing theory makes sense.

Either way, I keep mine either hanging on the wall or standing up in their cases as much as possible.

PS=-It's good to see you back, Nevin. We could have used you on a thread hijacking project last week...

I've been a firm believer that guitars should be stored in unlocked cases at my place. It's better for the guitar if it's stored with its amp as well.

The above applies to any and all high $$$ value guitars and amps.
