The world is getting smaller. The divisions between American music and Euro music start to get blurred. It's inevitable.

Most of the decent music made today is coming out of the us and canada anyway. There are some great lesser known acts over here in the uk though.

Bands like Hot Chip, The Klaxons, Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip, Hijak Oscar (Lots of users on here will like these guys, myspace/youtube them), Camera Obscura, Gruff Rhys (Neon Neon, Super Furry Animals, Solo stuff) are all producing excellent stuff and hail from the UK.

I guess you are right. In the 70s there were tons of EU bands that were popular in the US.

Today, who do we have (besides those oldies)? Oasis?

Muse, Arctic Monkeys, Coldplay, Snow Patrol, U2, Radiohead...

I assume that they're as popular in the US as they are everywhere else?

Yeah if the Arctic Monkeys weren't made up of scumbags I'd listen to their music all the time, but being a Christian I must refrain from doing so. Most of the oldies bands I listen to are European (Led Zepplin, The Beatles, Jethro Tull, etc.) but a lot of modern bands I listen to are from North America. Funny, guess I just don't get out enough but I like what I like I s'pose.

I take it you know the Arctic Monkeys well then?

If only Christians would also refrain from calling people "scumbags."

You do know that Jimmy Page is an occultist who lived in Aleister Crowley's house, right? And that John Lennon was an atheist? Maybe you should stop listening to Zep and the Beatles, too.

Yeh, it's not a very 'christian' attitude, is it?

A Christian wouldn't say that.

Rofl....ok, back on topic. lol

A band that's getting kind of popular in Ireland now is The Coronas. They do indie kind of stuff......not my cup of tea, but if they're getting famous, they must be doing something right.

I have a friend in the UK who says that US bands/performers are more popular over there. :?:
