Holler if/when you get out here -- I'm about two hours from CG.

Good luck Tim with the Band and move!

Been thinking in a year or two to look for like minded folks who want to get together and play myself. Need to get my playing a little better before hand though...

How did you advertise? Craiglist, local paper, bulletin board at music store....

I put an ad on Craigslist, and I asked all of my Fascebook friends if they knew anybody. The drummer got ahold of me via CL, and the bass player is an old friend of mine that I've known since about '91 or '92, he got ahold of me via facebook.
I have a bandmix profile up with an ad, but I have barely even gotten any views on it. I've always found that CL is a pretty good place to find people. You just have to put up new ads pretty often due to the volume of ads being placed and knocking yours down the list.

Good luck, Tim!

I'll be in Vegas for almost a week beginning April 29th, so if you're jamming
anywhere, post the details.

Quick update while my tubes warm up...
So looks like drums and bass are locked down now. Still looking for someone that plays either organ or keyboards and possibly a harmonica player. But I think that we'll be ok starting out as a trio, and you never know, it may work well as a trio.

Hey Mike. It's quite the drive from Vegas to the Bay Area (about 10 hours) but we should be playing out by the end of April. It'd be cool of you to make it to a show, but that's on you if you wanted to drive that far to hear a mediocre guitarist and his band play  I used to live in Vegas and played with a band out there, Vegas is a fun place to be in a band.

Yeah, you gotta hookup with Arjay,it's too good to pass up,and the experience would probably provide some good lyrics for a song..... when you sober up.

One of my former bandmates is living in Vegas now and he claims to know people in low places as far as getting around out there.

haha...Not likely. I've been called Robin and had the whole 'you know who else's name is Tim Drake' conversation about 5,000,000 times. Now that I think about it, maybe I should use a stage name.

So boys and girls, tonight's topic is promotion and booking. I plan on networking with absolutely everyone in the music business locally and putting in a lot of footwork with this band as I have with all my others. As well as local networking I plan to promote the music as heavily as possible via the internet in the area I of Arizona where I plan to be moving.
The question I have for you all is this. As I put together a promotions packet for the band what kind of information/media should I include. Of course I plan on including demo tracks on a cd as well as a dvd of a live performance and photos/bios of the band. But what else other than that should be included? I'm sure that the more thorough and professional I make it the better, so what ideas do you guys have?
