Went pawn shop gawkin' today not really planning to buy just bored as usual. I came accross a 1989 peavey audition chorus 10 watt. it was only 30 dollars so i picked it up. it has a great sound for country and jazz.

That's the same place I got my Peavey Audition 110 Transtube amp for $35 after a bit of haggling. Near perfect condition and a dandy little two-channel scorcher. I let the grandsons use it when they come to visit. I sure haven't found much in the way of guitars hanging in pawn shops lately, mostly worthless copycat junk.

One day, when I retire.....I will open a pawn shop.....I love them.....usually full of real junk, and when they do have something nice, it is usually way overpriced, but some of the best guitars I ever owned I bought from pawn shops. I have scored a few true deals too! About once a year in these parts, something really special will pop up in the one and only pawn shop here. I always try to keep a little rainy day money aside for this occasion!

I dont see any gems as far as guitars around here either the last time i found one it got bought from beneath me. it was a telecaster that had the neck replaced with that of a Epiphone explorer. The only guitar ive ever bought from a pawn shop was my old Kona acoustic

I suspect that pawn shop finds are highly correlated to places where dreams are realized...or crushed.

That would put LA, NY, Nashville and Memphis pretty high on the list.

The only pawn shop around here charges a fortune for used amps and guitars. One day I saw a Traynor amp they had for $160 and L&M had the same amp new for $150.Interestingly enough they had an old early 60s Silvertone 20W combo on sale for only $40 and needless to say that was sold the day it came in as the owners didn't realize what a gem they had.

None of the pawnshops in the Bay area ever have anything good for a reasonable price. I've seen used amps and guitars with price tags higher than they would have been new. If i'm looking for a good deal I usually scour the web and newspaper classifieds.

A friend of my dads is a truck driver who is not only an amazing guitarist but also a vintage guitar collector. about 3 years ago he was down in Nashville and went lookin around in some pawn shops and found a 1930's acoustic guitar in decent condition for about 600. You just don't get that around here its a cryin' shame.

We don`t even have pawn shops around here anymore. The last one went out of business about 20 years ago.
