I'm just sitting here at the computer with the Sirius Deep Tracks channel on and an absolutely wailing raw cover of Stormy Monday came on.I checked the station printout to see whose familiar deadly playing it was,and it was Cream-no surprise but it was the most sublime bit of guitar work I've ever heard on that song-even back then Clapton was head and shoulders above all guitardom. It makes no wonder how he's held on to his deity status.Even his slow passages blow away all comers.

I saw him do that in the Cream reunion video and he did it in C and a regular I IV V progression, not the arrangement that is most often played like the Allman Brothers cover.

The Cream Reunion at Royal Albert Hall has a great version!
Even Jack Bruce comments on how well it sounds.

Hope this does not offend anyone out there...well maybe a little, but NO ONE does a slow blues like EC...I have seen him numerous times (first time was with D & T Dominos) and when he plays a slow blues time seems to stand still.

Clapton is the ONE guitar player I would like to be. Listened to him since the 60s. He keeps me humble as I know my talent is so minuscule compared to him. At least he keeps my goals way out there!

That's the way I play it....Albert King's version.
