BE WARNED!!!

The bizarre appearance of this egg-laying, venomous, duck-billed, beaver-tailed, otter-footed mammal baffled European naturalists when they first encountered it, with some considering it an elaborate fraud. It is one of the few venomous mammals; the male platypus has a spur on the hind foot that delivers a venom capable of causing severe pain to humans.......

Dont you guys dare think of making small battered bite size mouthfuls out of our little national treasures!!!!!

:) This thread is just marvelous. Although epic, does not compare to the thread that Vinnypop had, with apparitions of the blessed Mary, alien abductions, Beetles royalties, a 1953 strat, and whale songs with cool psychodelic video trickery :)

Nik, I saw one of those "Vintage" Teles the other day- it looked kinda cool from a distance untill I got up close. The Butterscotched looked very yellow, like it was dipped in a vat of yellow dye- the sort you might find in a high school art class. A RW looked more authentic but the Vintage just looked like one of those home jobs. They also have models in the 're-issue' line that look more pleasing to the eye.. but the 'vintage' it seems are really attacked with a belt sander from what I can tell

Sooo, on with the Hijacks.. here's my favourite childhood story.. 'Hairy Maclary From Donaldsons Dairy' by a local author that has very good illustrations to boot

Image

Image

Hairy Maclary From Donaldson's Dairy and his mates all out for a good time with Hairy's bone- Bitzer Maloney All Skinny and Boney, Bottomley Potts all Covered in spots, Hercules Morse as Big As a Horse, Muffin Maclay Like a Bundle of Hay and Snitzer Von Krum With a Very Low Tum- Having a ball keeping out of the way of the local tom cat.. awesome series of books I loved as a kid, I recently bought the set for my nieces and they love them..
I Loved the 'Busy World' books too- I remember the one where everyone piled on the plane and when the ant family jumped on board, the plane just burst at the seams while everyone was having a good time! :)

Can't say I have any socks or moccasins to post- down here we have just entered Autumn and I'm still wearing me jandals (Thongs/Flip Flops for those who dont know  ) :)

Blertes

Hairy Maclary is the pinnacle of good literature as far as my daughter is concerned. Slinky Malinki and Sticky Beak Sid being her two favourite characters.
That Lynley Dodd must have made a packet off those tales. I'm quite partial to em myself and often watch a old recording of the tv series episodes.

lol! thats unbelieveable you get them up there! I thought she only went local with those books! I bet she DID make a packet off them. The Illustrations are important too when it comes to childrens books.. Peter Rabbit is a fine example. Tell me, are they Lynley Dodd books readily available up there in UK book stores?

I'll ask the Quear One when she gets back. She does all the 'book shopping'. I do the 'handing over the money'.

Thinking of it I only know of the Lynley Dodd Hairy Maclary books. Any other series she wrote could well be rare in the UK.

I bet you have no experience of what it's like as a 38 year old to read Caterwaul Caper five nights running.

Then came the sound that echoed around.......

(It wasn't Scarface Claw. It was The Edge writing riffs for the new U2 album.)

If you don't mind me asking chaps, what was the "2 or 3 Club" :?:

I'm intrigued!

Oh my - there was a story. And one that might not be finished yet; who knows?

Also, not mine to tell. Most of us here were just innocent observers.

Hop? Nick? CV? Twelvebar?

Hey, it's like The Usual Suspects, isn't it?

Cheers - C

How very, very Intriguing!

Blimey! Ah well, If its to "Hot" for the public forum, I may well just have to stay intrigued. :? :D

Cheers!

Andy

Heh, I just found this thread. I was starting to think the same thing about the '2 or 3 Club'

Sadly, although the alumni are mostly present here I don't think there's any chance of a membership drive.

Members themselves have absolutely no input as per recruitment, rather inclusion was very much analogous to receiving a knighthood. It was conferred. We won't see a return to that magical time. I don't think the OP is a worthy successor to the patron of the club, rather he is more Tito than Micheal.

Yeah he certainly is no where near AlwaysStrat in the schizophrenic passive/aggressive stakes thats for sure.

The Same 2 or 3 club. Anyone was a member that didn't agree with him. It should have been the same 2 or 3 thousand club.
Though I must say, the penchant for making wild unfounded, unsupportable claims was exactly the same. Though old Angelo preffered to rag on the American Standard, rather than Roadworns or Relics.

Anyway I gotta go, theres a pig in my garden and no bacon in the fridge. It's dinnertime Porky.

Ooo. I'm away from the Forum for 24 hours and look what's happened to this thread. The thread hijack has been hijacked. Neat! :D

We don't have marsupials on my bit of the planet, but it so happens I do have right here in the room with me this platy-puss. (Geddit???):
