Are they Moccasins or Brothel Creepers?

I think they're a rather tragic combination of the two... I'll probably stick to wearing my Award Winning Hippy socks.

One day, maybe when I'm old enough, I'll own some Moccasins. :D

Andy (in a particularly cheeky mood today... Apologies! )

Isn’t it the strangest thing….You start a posting with a heading that “ clearly “ demonstrates what the topic will be about…You would think therefore. That had the topic been addressed before or should the individual have no interested in it, they would ignore it and move on…

Not on this Forum…Simple is as simple does. They open the posting and then in the time honoured way of the numpty. Fire tired, worn out asinine attempts at insults.

Those more often found in the playground…

Children insult me all you wish…but please try and be a bit more constructive.
A little panache, aplomb or imagination would not go wrong.

Whatever happened to being entitled to ones own point of view? And if you read my original post. I never actually had one, the reason for the question..

One personal note if I may….Nikininja the photographs you posted speak volumes on the type of person you are, I’m so very glad I don’t live next door.

PS: I truly wonder at the mentality of many of the people on this Forum when I read some of the post scripts they put…

Yes - as previously explained, it's called a "thread hijack".

But actually... where? I'm searching around for some insulting remarks. Hmmm...

You had made your point of view very well known in the previous posts. We all (everyone who read the previous posts) understand you don't like this style and we all know you don't understand why some people do. As you stated, it has been covered before by yourself and many others.

We all just want to know why you continue to "beat a dead horse". You just seem to want to start arguements and be a nuisanse. If anyone has been acting childish, it has been you. Your arrogant, inflammatory comments and insults only increase the number of members that wish you would just go away. I hope you can overcome whatever causes you act in such a manner.

Hi Strat 789,you're just flogging a dead horse with this topic.Although I see as much point in relicing or faking a Roadworn look on a guitar as I do in relicing a car or new chesterfield,I've come to accept the fact that there are and always will be others that are willing to pay a premium to have a guitar that looks like it has been gigged for 25 years.
Even though I can't see their rationelle for wanting to do this I refuse to get my undergarments in a dishevelled condition because they equate road worn with looking cool or whatever that's their perogative. It's best to let the topic die because if you keep picking at it,it will never heal.

Strat789--
I think the overall "air" (read: "I told you so" arrogance) of your posts are what has triggered such a visceral response.

If you didn't intend for the post(s) to be arrogant or condescending, then perhaps you should try to learn how to express your opinion more succintly and with a bit more articulation and humility. Many of us here have expressed our (differing) opinions about players, gear and even non-musical subjects without a problem.

As far as your opinion, you're entitled to it, and if and when you come up with a good reason for your dislike of Road Worn/Relic guitars, that opinion will be respected. The reason can be as simple as "I don't like them, they look terrible...", but you have to express that opinion without the smug and bombastic attitude that come through in this (and previous) posts...that's the way your opinions will be respected.

The fact that it irks/disturbs you so much that these instruments even exist is telling, as well. Perhaps you should concentrate on what you like about Fender or start becoming an aficionado of another brand.

Also, since the celebrated Mr. Ninja is highly respected member of this Forum (along with his countrymen, the President of Peckham and the Large-haired Sock-wearer), I would be cautious about starting a flame that you might not be able to extinguish. That's like starting a land war in Asia or being honest with your boss about the intelligence of his ideas...you can't win.

To get back to your original post:
I too previously did not see the point in buying a new guitar that is beat up, just as I don't see the point in buying "new" torn Levis. However, after playing a number of these relic'd guitars (while testing out amps), I was impressed with their "feel" and overall tone. While not on my internal GAS list, I see the attraction as far as playability and feel. I also understand the person who might want to buy a "beater" to play in gigs where equipment might not be as respected as it should be.

PS: I'll be posting a picture of my favorite boots later...

Question my mentality all you wish 789. I really could not care less what you think of me. Your opinion means nothing to me and the fact that you will quote somebody who is clearly lying shows your lack of judgement in people.
So yeah, think what you like. I don't need to post my opinion of you. In truth I haven't paid you much mind at all, aside from seeing through your obvious attempt to stirr old troubles.

Ceri, yes butterflies. I loathe most insects. Bee's and butterflies hold a special area of my heart. Would you believe that no2 daughter managed to hatch a butterfly from a cocoon 2 days before Christmas. A magical time for a magical kid.

Should you ever wish for a brilliant afternoon.(perhaps the wife may enjoy) I strongly recommend
http://www.butterflyandwildlifepark.co.uk/ Though there will be somewhere nearer to you. A sunny afternoon with the butterflies never fails to relax.

The Bassist with The SideValves (another Mark, a very nice fellow) bought Long Sutton Butterfly Park's bald eagle into the country.

well, well,well,789!! How do you feel now? Disturbing all of the peace and harmony on this forum, but it seems that the majority don't care about your long winded insulting post. I wouldn't expect much help from this forum anytime soon. Sometimes it's better to let it be my friend. Good luck !

Hi Mike: a quick glance here will catch you up. strat789 arrived on the Forum with this thread:

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=50909&p=610153#p610153

After what he heard there he immediately launched this thread:

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=50971&p=610849#p610849

Which lead to this thread:

Stop taking yourselves so seriously. As someone said the best response to these horrible, cruel, awful people is to ignore them.. What do you think?

What I think is that this was good advice. Well some of it, anyhow.

Anyway to further take this thread off topic, I'd like to share my latest find. A absolute classic if you ask me.

Ok now that the horse has been beaten to... well there is not much left of it (and we need mr. Russian Racehorse's "A Gentleman beating a dead horse" picture in this thread) can we start to talk about something that really matters... Andy's socks... they are awesome.
And of course should mr. Ceri and mr. Ninja footwear be donated to the Museum of Awesome footwear after their days are gone.
