Since all I can add about road worns is unoriginal (I don't like the look, but I've never played one), I'd like to contribute to the hijacking:

Which of Stephen King's do you prefer: The Dark Tower series or The Stand?

Hey Nik,

Great to see you on Facebook dude- it's rather refreshing to see faces instead of usernames :)
Something funny happened at the same time I got your request today though- I got a message from a rather nice Ukrainian mail-order bride today aswell! lol Awesome!! The usual copy-paste-send email variety, totally fake- but man what a stunning bird! Legend!

Back in the day, the Crown used to offer muskets and blankets for good hospitality- but this is just brilliant! :D

Im thinking of scamming the scammer and asking for her bank account details so I can deposit her $250,000,000 inheritance once the funds have cleared. Maybe I will have enough to move my family to the Ukraine too

Finally, I have decent pics of my footwear...perhaps not as interesting as AndyBigHair's socks, but they're as comfortable as Ceri's and Niki's mocassins.

At rest:

...and in action:

I have now re-hijacked the the thread that was hijacked from the original hijacking (or is that re-re-hijacked?)... :?

Gotta watch them Ukrainian gals mate. Their only after your veggimite.

I think the Dark Tower series left the Stand choking on dust. Much more depth to the characters. Much more involved storyline. Plenty of tradegy as well as highs. From the first line of the first book, "The man in black fled across the desert. And the gunslinger followed". When I first read that, aged 13, my life course was altered. Some twenty three years later, I got to finish the series. Thats something that you live with. The Stand, whilst good, can't offer that. King Started it in 1972 and finished the series in what, 2005.

Now where can I redeem these Big Hairy Points for valuable prizes?

I couldn't care less what anyone else thinks about the RW or Custom Shop relics, I think that they are cool. And without exception, everyone likes the looks of the RW the first time that they see it...and then there are the idiots who like it, then change their mind once they find out it is not "natural" wear. What kind of a loser would slam someone else's choice of guitar just because it is artificially worn? What a bunch of hooey! Many people pay big money for the Custom Shop relics, and obviously they are quite popular as they keep making them. Yeah, Keith Richards likes his new guitar to be pre-worn because it feels much better than a new one and I agree, but what does he know?

What are you doing, trying to get the thread back on track to the original post?

That's a nice looking Roadworn, Shimmilou. Overall, I guess I semi-agree with you--they play well, sound good and "feel" right, who cares what it looks like?

Unless we're talking about one of those butt-ugly pointy-headed heavy metal guitars...

It's kind of like the prejudice some bikers have if a motorcycle isn't a Harley. They look down their nose at any other manufacturer's product--even if it looks nice, rides well and is mechanically sound.

Yeah but theres one flaw to that, Harley's are slow, like a tractor masquerading as a bike. A prime example of style over content. Theres a reason Japan rules the world of cars and bikes.
Though I do like the style. You get way more from a Goldwing or a Shadow, much along those same styles.

Lets keep it off topic eh, cos the original topic is BS. The reason it was taken off topic was to avoid another pointless argumentative thread.

Time for more shoes and socks I think.

You're right, Niki...here's some of my work shoes, badly in need of polishing:

Image

To further throw things off track (and since Ceri is such a lover of puns & word association)--since "polish" and "Polish" are such similarly spelled words, would it be improper to rub a "Polish" sausage on my shoes to "polish" them? The grease would make them shinier...

Sorry nikininja, but the Harley is still the number one chick magnet in the world when it comes to bikes. Ten Goldwings will never attract the chicks like one leaky old Harley does (BTW, the new Harleys are much better and there is a long waiting list for one, not a problem with the rice burners as they are a dime a dozen) See, right back off topic.

And seriously, it is only argumentative if you allow it to be by participating in an argument. Otherwise, nothing wrong with differing opinions. I still don't understand why someone would get involved arguing about one's personal choice, as there is absolutely no wrong answer there, I like 'em, you hate 'em, so what. Changing the original topic of the OP's post reminds me of the childish hand-over-ears "La la la, I can't hear you" type of response, very mature. Personally, if no one responds to stupid/rude comments, there is no argument, only different opinions.

My modded off it's head Vrod would eat 90% of $@! bikes on the road. Then out of the remaining 10% with the high hundreds HP that possibly are faster only 1-2% of people who own them can actually ride them to the limit let alone drag race them off the mark to prove the point. Not all Harley's are slow now we have water cooled Vrod motors that rev.

Japan rules Automotive????

Sorry no disrespect but...Naaaa No way...

I ride a pushbike to work so everything has more horsepower than me. I also recall that when I re-read the Dark Tower series last year there were neither platypus' (just what is the plural of platypus?) nor motorcycles.

Also, since we're looking at various pics of people's footwear... I find it confusing that here in Australia we call thongs, thongs and g-strings, g-strings. Whereas in the US they call thongs flip-flops, and g-strings are thongs. In either case, they made me get off the beach when I showed up with them and nothing else on. Something about middle aged men should know better  :D
