For the guys who had a go the first time round...This posting comes from a guy ( don’t feel I can use name without permission ) and is self evident.... He knows a thing or two about guitars owning his own shop and web Forum as he does…

Quote...

"Getting back to topic....

I used to sell the American Relic Strats...

Well actually I did for about 3 months.

It was one of the low points in my career I can tell you - the ultimate sell out.

I used to look at them and just laugh at them. They didn't look CLOSE to an old guitar.

So you have a new guitar that you were paying the best part of £1.5k for which you are paying for it to look like a Vintage model and yet it doesn't look remotely vintage.

In fact talking of Vintage - some of the Vintage Relics (the brand Vintage - The Lemon Drop for example) have been far more realistic than the Fenders!!

Frankly my stomach churns when I see reliced guitars MAINLY because of what I have said - they dont look old!

IF I were to see one that genuinely looked old I am sure I would love it because hand on heart when I see a beaten up old guitar... oh I love them! End of quote....

Told you so.

Love and kisses...Strat789

Seriously? You are starting this crap again?

I have to admit this is not a very wise move, I was one of the people defending you in they way you were talked to in your last post about this subject. Now you want start the crap up again?

We all get it "you don't like worn guitars or see the point in them" and naturally you find a quote to back your opinion from someone who you are not willing to name. And what is with the "told you so"? one unnamed person backs your opinion and you feel vindicated? How truely sad.

If you want to have a good discussion about guitars and music please stay and enjoy the forum but, if you just want to fight and argue with people I hear northern Africa is into that kind of thing right now.

Dude,

Roan Worn is a finish option - not an affront to your manhood.

Get over it.

I must have missed the "go around" you mention?

At any rate, different people have different tastes and thats what make life interesting, but I'm not a fan of the artificially relic'd guitars personally.

I do have relic'd guitars, but they were relic'd from years of heavy usage in smoky bars, roadhouses and juke joints.

It used to mean something to see a worn guitar...you'd know that it had been a 'player'
for many gigs, jams and performances...these days, you cannot tell which is really a player or if just cosmetically enhanced to look that way.

Hi Mike: a quick glance here will catch you up. strat789 arrived on the Forum with this thread:

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=50909&p=610153#p610153

After what he heard there he immediately launched this thread:

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=50971&p=610849#p610849

Which lead to this thread:

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=51120&p=612696#p612696

Where strat789 had this to say:
strat789 wrote:

Stop taking yourselves so seriously. As someone said the best response to these horrible, cruel, awful people is to ignore them.. What do you think?

What I think is that this was good advice. Well some of it, anyhow.

We just got one in the shop, and it sounds pretty good. I actually like the Sd humbucker better than the Am. HSS special. Then again I'm someone who could care less about the appearance of a guitar...

Just my two cents worth 8) I think this thread will die out before it gets too nasty. I feel like I've already seen everyone's opinion about the road worn's (these topics seem to come up a lot, kinda like the "maple vs. rosewood" topic)

ABH: Those socks are awesome too btw

Especially when the OP has to resort to quoting posters on other forums that are clearly lying to bolster his/her argument. A relic for £1500, what a joke. Anyone with half a brain ought to have a look for a UK guitar shop where you can buy a relic for that price. What a utterly weak way to undermine a weak opinion. No doubt a fantasy from a weak mind.

Oh I've got a Vintage Lemon Drop, it's crap. It's currently sitting in the middle of the lawn after I threw it out. Absolute utter junk, crap pickups, a crap neck and a crap finish.
I like Trev and use plenty of his parts, but if my PGM is a fair example of their guitars. Then they are a throwback to the bad budget guitars of the early 80's. A displeasure to handle in every way that leaves you wishing you'd never considered playing the guitar.
I really think it's £250 worth of firewood.

Pic's after I get no2 daughter from school.

As you will see from my post count. I am a noob. Which means I am fortunate enough not to be aware of the OP’s original sins or any forum // keyboard uber warrior politics etc :?:

Personally I don’t get artificially Relic’d Guitars, Strat or other. I don’t understand paying £2000+ maybe more for something that’s new, that’s been attacked with a sander.

A real genuine relic sure! If it has the sweat of Clapton, the burn marks of Jimmy or the blood of Yngwie then great! Buy it! Love it! Play it!

For instance, take a 2010 Amercian Standard Strat, the neck has hand rolled edges which gives it that lovely worn in feel, so you’re getting the best of both worlds, a brand new shiny strat with a broken in neck. Surely that’s the perfect combination?

The socks are awesome btw! Many congratulations on ownership of such fine foot protectors.

Adam :D
