Hi to everyone, just wanted to know if anyone has checked out the fender so cal speed shop strat. What your thoughts? is it worth looking for, hows it play, and is it as rare as it seems, want to invest but I have not had the chance to check one out, thanks.

We sold a few of them here in Vegas (I work at the So Cal here) and I can honestly say it was not a very impressive guitar. It's more of a novelty than anything else.

Thank you for your reply, I do know of the guitar you mention and have held one played it and your correct, not much to look for how ever I,am speaking of the strat that was used in the original SoCal tanker ad in the 60th aniversary catolog. This strat had a maple neck and full on strat hardware with tree pickups a strat, the one you are speaking of is a single bridge pickup, so cal paint skeem, includeing the neck was made of basswood and was very light aprox 4 1/2 to 5 lbs, MIM, I,am trying to locate the real strat from the SoCal ad, and any info regarding that guitar,it's the one the owner and founder of SoCal is holding up and the tanker is in the ad to. Thanks for your help and any other info you might have is more than welcome.

Thank you, how ,when and were?,You know people laugh at me all the time when I bring this guitar up in my conversations about guitars, so called experts have told me I,am crazy, and it doesn,t exist,and that mans got a screw loose and all that kind of horse poop! Well I,am a FENDER nut! but I know stuff others sometimes don,t. and the fact that they excuse my 45 years of fender loven madness really urks me at times, bloody know it all's! but yes sir thats the guitar, the only difference is the plain maple neck, the one here is so cal all threw witch makes it even more perfectly so cal.

Well thats the tele model and its a hard to come by guitar also, but I,am interested in the strat, at least I'am thinking thats what your referring to given your handle, is the tele issue, actually some people don,t believe that this fender exsist either but you guys here on the forum have proven the na sayers wrong once again! go Nashville! ya man!

I believe this picture is what you are searching for. The Strat Alex is holding, and two more just like it, were auctioned that day for a total of $8,100. The guitars were designed by Pete and custom built. I'm pretty sure master builder Scott Buehl crafted these guitars and could give you more information than I currently have for you.

Yes man, I,am enjoying this something like the smell of nitro first thing in the morning, I,ve checked out the sites you,ve mentioned just now and I,am losin it man!, the wife is shakin and the dogs a barkin, cuase alex is peakin! now this is cool, performance guitars, and thunder cars, my world, it just can,t get any better than this! or can it? repete- your the man!!!!!, buy the way look close at the photo sitin on the shop floor and I,am shure I see a maple necked fender strat custom one off so cal, or am I just crazy from tire smokin?
