Hello Fender Lounge!!

My name is Adam, I live near London UK and I have an American Standard Strat HSS in the glorius Sienna Burst finish, this is my first post! Hello! Hullo! Hi !

I wanted to ask if anyone has had any experience with the Korg Pandora PX5D please? any thoughts or comments or alternatives would be appreciated.

I am planning to buy one very soon, but having recently signed up to the Fender forum I thought I might ask for opinions first. I like that it has multi effects, amp sims, recording and USB facilities aswell as being able to help me transpose riffs, and licks etc. Oh and the smallness.

I have been away from guitar playing from a very long time, have probably forgotten more than I will ever remember but if it helps my current setup is. MIA HSS Strat, Original Crybaby, Boss PS-6 Harmoniser, a small SS Orange Amp and a very very old Zoom 1010 multi effects pedal. Which I only really use for the cabinet simulator and distortion. (its not great but its what I got).

Any thoughts on the PX5D or user experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks all

Adam

I have no experience with that particular pedal but I'm sure some of the members here will gladly help you. I just wanted to "Welcome" you to the forum mate!!

I had a Boss ME-50 effects pedal at one time but opted out of that any built mysely a pedal board and loaded it up with lots of individual (analog) pedals and seem to prefer that to a one pedal does all type of thing. JMHO!

Hi Adam,

I don't have any experience with that multi efx pedal but played on various Vox, Boss, Digitech and in my opinion nothing beats a good guitar (you got that already) directly into the good amp. Save money for the really good amp (your ears will tell you what that is).

This simple setup will give you:
1. Back to basics of good ear.
2. Will force you to be more creative, meaning you got 5 different sounds on your strat X string picking\strumming dynamic X EQ on that good amp = huge variety of sounds from clean to distorted. You can utilize all this sounds differently rather than playing the same damn thing with the different effect.
3. You get to experience what your guitar does and how it does it. Nothing gets "masked" mistakes are evident, good things sound way better.
4. Appreciate and advance your technique.
5. etc, etc....don't want to bore you

This is just my suggestion since I am not familiar with the details of what you are planning to do. Thinking even about recording you would be better of running guitar into the USB interface and through the software than the multi fx unit. This of course if you are familiar and comfortable with the computers and software.

Welcome to the forum.

BTW today weather blooze in Toronto,

Woke up this mornin' it was -1
in the afternoon it'g going to -5
afternoon carries blowing snow and "flash freeze"
nite has it cold with a slippery drive. 8)

I've owned it for about two years and love it!

I use it on about 65% of my recordings, but I don't use the USB interface, just the amp and cab sims and fx.

Some favorite patches - ascend - spaced - meow - sitar.

Very cool device and will fit in a shirt pocket!

It was recommended to me by some SoundClick friends in Brazil...they did a whole album with it and you can see them in a live show here with it...no amps! Just PX5D through board :

Both Adrianne and Zozimo play scalloped neck Strats and have PX5Ds going through the main soundboard.

The PX5D uses the same powerful engine that is in some of their
high end Korg synths. It also uses "REMS" modeling technology.
(Resonant structure and Electronic circuit Modeling System)

Listen to some of the artist soundbytes down on right side :

I have the PX3, it's fun to mess with, has nice backing tracks, effects and stuff, don't think it would be great for live stuff. Lent it to a friend for a while and he fell in love with it, bought his brother the new one for Christmas and now says his playing has grown be leaps and bounds. He liked it so much that he just bought another one for himself, even thought they will be moving in together this spring. The two he got though were brand new and they do NOT come with Albeton Light anymore!. My PX3 sometimes has a nasty hiss to it and I can't figure out why, my buddy says he sometimes notices it with the newer one, and I have seen in the Korg forums that it is a widespread complaint over the whole model line, ie... Try Before You Buy

Here is a song that I collaborated on with Adrianne and Zozimo Rech from
Brazil...we all used our Korg PX5D devices on this track...no amps at all :
