My wife says I am living proof that mental illness takes many forms. Though I started playing out in 1964, it wasn't until 1982 or thereabouts that I actually began my collecting sickness. I had another large burst of collecting from 1994-1999 when I was performing every weekend with my band, the income from which allowed me the rationalization for adding more amps and guitars to my arsenal.

Back then there was no Guitar Center or Musician's Friend, so you were at the mercy of whatever music store you were dealing with. I've been playing out steadily again the last two years and between that (and having a real job as well) and the Guitar Center that was built here in town in 2007, I'm afraid I've lost control again. At least that's what the wife tells me... repeatedly.

That three-amp rack was built for me by my son, a master welder, to accommodate two Fender G-DECs and a Fender Super Champ XD. I was playing live with backing tracks provided by the G-DECs and used the Champ when I needed electric guitar. The rack is very handy, gives me great access to the amps on it and breaks down and folds up into a manageable chunk for transport.
