My stepdad and I fish quite often. We either head out to the bay and catch sand sharks all day, or hit the river/delta for some striper and catfish. Love me some catfish.

good one superkid. i needed a good laugh. thank you.
waycool, i liked the way you introduced your better half to fishing. i know exactly what you mean by keeping her catching fish. i'm very blessed. my wife quickly learned to rig a plastic worm and such but she still doesn't like live bait. i'm happy to do that for her. next time we go i'm going to put some small perch in the water with a cork. hell, catching perch is fun for me. what do you think?
this jig? tell me more obi wan. i will try anything. i know there are some monster bass in this pond. i'm the only one fishing it.
thanx waycool.
tim drake, i too love to catfish. we sometimes do that at night over a few cold ones and a fire. lots of good conversation waiting for a hit.

perch are great to catch and good eating. many of outings have been centered around these easy to catch good tasting little fish.

catfishing, one of americas favorite pastimes. you cant get more simple or relaxed than this. i cut my teeth on these fish and have fond memories from when i was a kid.
catfish are always willing to take a bait. ive caught them on everything from worms to crankbaits. believe it or not, ive caught catfish on 2 different trips on lures that when i got them to the bank, they already had a lure exactly like the one i caught them on already in their mouths from where they broke off someone elses line lol.
now how cool is that right. lures now not cut baits.
as for teaching the better half, yeah there is a method to my madness. shes a great sport too. she will try just about anything once.
after this season i'll move her up to better gear. being a newbie shes gonna lose or distroy gear. it happens, theres a law about that somewhere i think.
several of my combos cost more than a MIM strat ok. i would much rather her learn on a $150 setup than on one of my better combos.
here is a funny story on her. it wasnt so funny at the time i promise you.
she was running the vac one after noon. i was watching her get just a tad to close to one of my rod racks. as slow as slow motion can be i saw the glissening of line at the foot of my rack. just as it registered in my brain as to what it was ZIGGGGGGGGGG, down came the rack and about 20 rods. i couldnt believe it. she sucked the damn line up in the vac. as she was picking up rods in silence (lol) i noticed 2 new, shorter rods that i didnt remember owning. yep you guessed it, 2 of my fav rods were now 4.
i wanted to just lose it as i was just telling her NOT to get to close to the racks.
she spent about an hour cutting about 30yrds from the vac brushes. it was funny looking back on it. i couldnt believe it. those two were my fav's too. out of 50plus combos setting there why the hell those two and that rack? why not the other racks?
she learned to be more careful around them that day. she wont go nowhere near my
guitar collection. my players she will but not the collectables lol.
God lover her and so do i.
