give it 6 months on that speaker before you jump the gun.

Oh yeah, no hurry at all. The amp sounds great exactly as it sits. I've put it through it's paces yesterday and today and it hasn't disappointed.

Sounds great Tim! Good luck with it. I agree, let the speaker break in a while. I think you'll be really surprised.

Yeah, that speaker and I are getting along a little better. I had to roll the treble all the way off to play it the first day, but it already seems to be losing some of that new speaker harshness. I've discovered that running it with the master all the way up and using just the preamp to adjust really opens up the tone.

No prob Bud...I'd say at the price point they're selling the Jet City's for, they can't be beat.

Review - 1 week:

So after a week (ok ok, 6 days. But who's counting?) of playing through this amp, I'm still very pleased. The speaker is coming into it's own rather nicely and the tone is smoothing out a bit.
I spent the first few days fiddling with the controls a lot, but I've got it set to where I like it and I've just left it. (pre - 4, reverb - 4, bass - 7, mid - 5, treble - 3, presence - 3) It's has a real nice bluesy sound when I'm switched onto the neck pickup and I roll back the guitar volume. Then switching through the positions I have a lot of different tones. On the bridge I get a nice twangy tone with clear top end and great note definition.
I still, at some point in the future might swap the speaker out for a celestion gold but the jury's still out on that, and will be for a while.
I'll try to get a full review recorded in a week or so, but I've been pretty busy and will be pretty busy getting my new band going and working on some networking to get us a few shows. But I'll do a review soon.

So, I've had this amp for about a month now, and now that the speaker is really breaking in a little, the tone is warming up nicely. I still use the presence as my treble control, because the treble control itself makes the sound very shrill; the one thing I don't like about this amp.
Over the last few weeks of auditioning drummers this amp has well exceeded my expectations. When it's being pushed to overcome a (rather loud) acoustic drum set, it really sings. However, With my gain at about 6 - 6.5 the master is only on about 5. Lots more headroom available. There is pretty much no option of a super clean tones at band volume, but it's just barely on the threshold of break-up and it sounds pretty sweet if that's how you like your sound. I prefer a little more bite on even my 'clean' tone and this amp delivers without a hesitation. As far as musical equipment is concerned, I'd say this thing's the best $300 I've spent.
b.t.w...The speaker I wasn't real fond of in the beginning holds up very well at high volume, and has a very full tone.

Tim, did you try putting the master on 10 and controlling the clean with the gain control? Whenever you have the gain higher than the master you tank the headroom. That's how it works on most of my amps. Super clean on low watt amp at band volumes is pretty tricky anyway. We all percieve clean differently anyway. My 100 watt Twin was the king of clean. I can get the clean pretty loud on my Rebel 20, but depending on the band I'm with at the time, it might not be quite enough. I don't need all that much clean anyway.

Yeah Supro...I've played around a ton with the settings, and even with the master dimed, the amp breaks up at about 3 - 3.5 on the preamp. I'm not worried about it, I never play with the sound 100% clean, although when I set it that way, the clean tone is very nice as well. I think it'd work well recorded.

Update...So the light on my amp burned out today. I know this is one problem that was kind of well known, and I'll contact Jet City on Monday and get a replacement on the way.
On another note, I cranked the gain and master all the way and played a few riffs today while nobody else was around... ...This thing is brutally loud for 20 watts! And it sounds great to boot. I was 25 feet away from the amp at the end of my Mogami cable and let's just say that I had to take an Aleve afterwards. You know the old saying 'If it's too loud, You're too old? Well I must be getting old, as great as it sounded, there is no way I could play at that level for extended periods anymore. When I was 16 though, I don't think it'd ever be turned down.

Tim, 20 watts IS loud. Just remember that 40 watts isn't twice as loud as 20 watts and 100 watts isn't 5 times as loud either. My 20 watt Egnater holds up just fine with 50 and 75 watt amps and depending on the cabinet I'm using, can hold it's own anywhere I play.

The more air you move, the volume you'll perceive. It just sounds a bit louder. I've run the Rebel head through my friends Marshall 4x12 cabs and it's insane. Usually I just run 2 Egnater 112 cabs. Sometimes stacked, sometimes separated on stage with the head on a small table near me.
