this is gonna be sick if it lives up to expectation. we have yet to see if it will be a success.

i struggle to see how this can be possible, but eh, what do i know? its a cool electronic device, that's all that matters.

There is also a neat little adapter that I posted a thread about a while back that allows you to use EL84/6BQ5 tubes in place of 6V6,6L6,EL34 and 7591 .These adapters are called Yellow Jackets and you just plug them into your tube socket and plug in your replacement tube. http://www.yellowjacketstc.com

Why would you want to ruin a perfectly good sounding amp by putting a 6L6 in it, when EL34's do exactly the same thing but so much better.

Nah Shimmilou pointed this gizmo out to me (before they sold out to orange).
Looks like I gotta buy a Orange and strip it to put the thing in a good amp now. :?

sorry Nik, how silly of me. 6L6, imagine that...ppt!

apparently, they have a standalone unit coming out as well, compatible with most amps. no need to dabble in Orange at all.

FenderFreak, i dont believe this is fully released to public yet, i am anxious for the day though. I think I saw an interview from this past NAMM that says they are still determining price and availability of the standalone unit. I dont even think the Orange amp with this unit attached is out yet either.

i wish Yellow jackets could do the reverse as well though.

Msvolpe

Shimmilou mentioned it on another thread a couple of weeks/months ago (no grasp of time passing sorry).
It does a lot of things that look to be really beneficial to amps. It constantly monitors the bias of the amp for one. To ensure you get optimum performance/longevity from your valves.
It's made by TubeSync in Newcastle.

Really does look a genius bit of kit. I know one of their dealers, when time permits I'll get onto him about it.
Cos I do want to run my 18watt on KT66's. I'd like the option to switch that back to EL34's or EL84's at a minutes notice. Luckily my amp is so sparse I could easily mount a couple more pairs of sockets on the chassis.

yea and anyway, i ain't exactly the "guru" (clearly) when it comes to knowing about this thing top to bottom, and when it will be released, etc.
if anyone has any updates to share, please do.
