Well, I don't handle product development of that nature but I can certainly pass it along for you!

I consider myself left-handed, but as a teen I played air guitar right-handed... it just seemed natural that way. That was lucky for me when I started playing a real guitar because of the slim pickings for lefty guitars.

I'm left handed and I started out in music being a drummer. When I first started out with my Drum lessons, my teacher suggested that I learn to play drums with the kit set up right handed. He explained that in this right handed world.........most of the drum kits I would encounter would be set up right handed. He went on to tell me that I would often have to play a drum set other than my own. Well, that's exactly what happened. Since I learned to play drums right handed, what my teacher told me was true. There were times I had to play on drums, other than my own. If you're a beginner with drums, guitars, etc, You don't know the difference in playing left or right handed anyway. You're starting from scratch.

When I learned to play guitar, I followed that teacher's advice (especially since left handed guitars were so rare, when I was growing up). That advice also worked for guitars. I don't know how many guitars, not belonging to me, that I've played over the years.

I'm sure that most other instruments are made for right handers too. Trombones, tubas, etc. I do not see manufacturers wanting to make left handed versions of every instrument out there. It is nice, however, to see guitar manufacturers willing to make a limited selection of left handed guitars for lefties.

My drummer is a lefty and he sets his drums up left-handed. I had no idea there was a difference until a right-handed drummer sat down at his kit and had a confused look on his face (it was actually kind of funny--he looked like a dog that heard a weird noise).

What's strange, though, is the fact that my drummer also plays guitar and bass, and he plays them both right-handed. I asked him about this and he said, "Nobody had a left-handed guitar when I was a kid, so I learned as a righty."

...I haven't figured out if he's playing keyboard left- or right-handed when he plays that instrument.
