I would say that ANYTHING you do for personal enjoyment is a passion. If you weren't passionate about it, you wouldn't do it and enjoy it. So yes playing/creating music is a passion.

Welcome to the forum!

Yes, it can be a passion. In my case, it was my main source of income for about 25 years.

Never give up your passion....just channel it in the right directions.

As with most things which occupy time, guitar can be a passion.

That said, there are gobs of passionate and enthusiastic and mediocre and lukewarm and dilettante-ish and only occasionally interested people in every field of endeavour.

For some people it's a passion, for other people it's a hobby, a way to relax, and fun.

I have a friend that I play with.......he practices at least two solid hours every day. He actually will wake up in the morning, before work, just to put in at least an hour, then another hour after he gets home from work. Now that's passion.

I, on the other hand, might play every two to three days......it's fun and a hobby. I don't have the drive that my friend has, to wake up at 4 or 5 in the morning just to practice. I've often called him, so we can go do something, and he'll tell me, "I can't. I I still have an hour of practice to go".

Obviously it is. For many people. It doesn't sound cheesy, don't worry.
For me, it means almost everything.

Nicely put! I was thinking of calling it my passionate hobby. I don't practice every day, don't necessarily have any goals, don't record, etc. But I always keep coming back to it, particularly when I've had a lot of stress.

I remember when I bought my first real gear, the store owner who sold it to me said: "I can tell ... you're one of those people who just has it in the blood. You'll be back and you'll always come back to music."

He was right. Even during my business career, I stilll kept that one favorite guitar and a small amp and every once in a while, I'd take it out of the closet.

Yeah, what he said. Def a passion.

A great relaxer, mind clear after a busy day. WHen work is done and the kids are in bed and there's no more distractions, it's time for guitar.

ive called it a passion before and been laughed at.
But for me it is, and i know it is.
If i cant have a career with my guitar i'm not sure if i want to live (how dramatic but its f*ckin true)
