My first guitar was a Victoria 3 pick up POS and I played it through a Wollensak T1500 tube reel to reel recorders PA input and some sort of 15" speaker cab. I saved and saved money from my paper route to get it. As I broke strings my parental unit would not give me money to replace them, eventually I was down to my D and G string and man was I the best 2 sting guitarist out there I would wail for hours as loud as I could, most likely in hopes to annoy my folks or neighbors, that thing could get some feed back. I did love it, than after High school they ejected me from the house and I went to the east coast and my Victoria stayed in Washington State and I guess was disposed of over time

I haven't been reading all the posts as much as I'd like to because work is keeping me pretty busy these days. Hence my reduced profile on the board lately. Anyway this thread looks interesting so ... my first electric guitar was a red Kent Strat copy and it was also the first guitar I ever paid for with my own money. I'm thinking that was maybe in 1972. I did not own that guitar for very long. Seems to me it was included as part of a bargain for a dirt bike trade a couple of years later. My first amplifier was a Silvertone 12" S/S combo. No idea what the model was. It was unremarkable in every sense of the word. It was so unremarkable I can't even remember whatever happened to it. Didn't care then and I only care now solely for the sake of curiosity.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

First electric was an Aria Pro II natural finish playing through a Peavey Pacer amp in the '70's. Sold the guitar early '80's for an Ibanez Super Artist but still have the amp! Had to replace the speaker twice because I also play bass & bass was just too much for it! The amp is still in pristine condition. (Using it as a keyboard amp now - low volumes.)

My first amp was a Hondo imitation Les Paul with a Dean Markley practice amp, bought somewhere around 1990. Got the two together for about $150. The Hondo didn't stay with me very long, but that Dean Markley was a nice, sturdy little amp which I kept and continued to use until just last year.

Cant believe I haven't seen this topic yet-

my first guitar and amp package was a Vester Stage Series Strat copy with a Samick solid-state amp.. :) Decent Strat that was- even though the body was made of plywood and it was finished thick- like a toffee apple.

I traded the amp on Peavy Classic 20 tube amp- that amp I regret letting go of :|

My first and so far the only guitar is a Starcaster by Fender S2 Strat. I don't know whether I'm the luckiest Starcaster Strat owner or not, but my guitar was pretty well set up, looked good, had smooth frets and above all, the pickups sounded good, out of the box. I bought a Starcaster 15G amp as well; it sounds horribly bad when in OD, though the clean channel is pretty decent. Plug in a foot-pedal and it's all right. It has been around four years now, since I had this guitar. I did change a little bit of the electronics, replaced the neck pickup with a Seymour Duncan Antiquity II humbucker and also changed the tuners. The guitar sounds good to me. I'll switch over to bass pretty soon, as the bassist of my band has left, but I'll never forget the importance of this guitar in my life. I learnt to play on this guitar. It has served me really well for 4 years now. :)

Ibanez SRX bass and a Fender Rumble 15 amp. Still have both.

Guitar first:

Ibanez RG3EXFM1 hard tail HH. And a Vox Valvetronix VT-20+

I still play both instruments, and the bass is my favorite of the three I own. The amps collect dust in my closet... I keep them around for a grab n go option for if I ever get around to taking lessons.

The Rumble was replaced with a Peavey Max112, which I traded in for a MarkBass Micro Mark- which sounds better and doesn't take over my bedroom like the Peavey did. That MarkBass ain't going ANYWHERE anytime soon.

The Vox got relegated to closet duty one Christmas, when I went in search of a single coil loaded guitar. I ran into the smartest salesguy ever: he hooked me up with exactly the sort of guitar I wanted, plugged me into a very nice amp, and stood back to let me sell myself! After a bit, he brought me a couple of overdrive pedals to try. I walked out of the store with:
2011 Fender American Standard Stratocaster. On Clearance and with a 30% off coupon!
Fender Super Champ X2 special run (surf Green)
FullTone OCD.

All told, I paid LESS for all three than the list price for that guitar!! All three are still in heavy use.

Shortly thereafter, I got a great deal on a used Mustang III off Craigs list. It's now my go to, and the Super Champ is reserved for when my neighbors are out, and I can make some noise. ( the musty is more flexible tonewise, at apartment dweller volume)

I've also since gone bat doodoo crazy on guitar GAS... ( I'm up to 11)

Future amp GAS is for either a full-on all tube Fender ( tweed/ish preferred), a Tone King ( which are basically a boutique Fender), or a Peavey Classic series ( hopefully a Delta Blues.) In other words, it's gotta have a killer warm clean tone, and awesome reverb and (ideally)tremolo on board. I'm in love with the Gibson into a Fender tone. Or the Tele or Strat into a Fender tone, or the Ibanez into a Fender tone...

Still can't play worth a crap, but at least I can SOUND great whilst playing badly!

The amp was, and I still have, a 1962 Fender Concert.
The guitar (my first solid body electric), a Fender DuoSonic. Actually I had another guitar before that, an arch top, that I believe was a Silvertone.
UPDATE: Been a while since originally posting this, but came across photo of the guitar I had mentioned. This was some time around 1961...Image

My first electric was an Electra , black with a plastic body and neck. A really nice looking inexpensive guitar. My first amp a Custom brand with the rolled upholstery that looked like it belonged in a customized forty Ford coupe. :)
