+1,

i notice someone has 500 friends, and i say "what is up with all your "friends''?" they say, "dunno who half of them are, i jus add random people to look popular."

Most people I don't know either but as I said before for the band is great. I have a full network of working musicians, photographers, promoters etc. If done right facebook can be great!

The thing that people don't understand about Facebook is that you can put on only what you don't mind other people knowing. If you are uncomfortable with anything being on there, don't put it on there. If you are secure and don't mind, go ahead, right? I don't mind people knowing my sex, birthday, religion, my favorite quotes. I don't mind that they can see some pictures of me. I'm totally fine with that. It is what it is; a social network. If you aren't comfortable with it, don't use it. That's something that you should consider, and to me, if you aren't comfortable with it all, then... why? Why not allow those old friends or relatives to come into much greater contact with you?

But remember; anything that is put up on there, people will have access to. It's not as scary as it seems at first, though.

My 2 cents. :)

As a musician, Facebook is a great tool for self promotion. As a Middle Aged dude, it's a great way to keep in touch with old friends.

Facebook is just a thing, people are people.

You are all more than good enough for me. Here I can talk music and gear and not have to "air my dirty laundry", so to speak.

I agree with the folks who are confused about why anyone would advertise a trip to Mexico. I also don't get why mobile users would use the "Check In" feature of the mobile app. This seems even sillier to me than announcing vacations. You allow people to pinpoint your location.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I disable all gps features on my phone as soon as I get it. Even some cameras have your position noted on each picture!!!
