I don't think I am, but I'm not signed up, so what do I know. Something about it doesn't seem quite right to me. Aside from consuming your time, it seems like your life is an open book. My sister wanted to show me some videos and gave me her password. After the videos, I clicked on a few friends of hers (that I know) and linked to others...yadda yadda. I felt like I uncomfortable looking through her account, so I logged out. No one had security settings and you've got photos and conversations almost anyone can read. It seems a little creepy to have that much personal info out there. I know people will say its great because they've reconnected with family etc, but I don't see the need in it. To me its just another way for our society to waste time and become a hermit with no real world social skills.

You know what, you are not missing out on anything. There are far better ways to spend your time than facebook. All it is, is a place to gossip and show off.Play your instrument or actually pick up a phone to talk with your friends.I say no to facebook....but to each his own

I'm on facebook, and its not really any different to this only you can put pics and vids on the same page rather than giving people a link.
So if you think facebook is pointless then so are bulletin boards.
Bit hypocritical really!
MAybe you should stop wasting your time on here as well!

Social networking has its uses, but I have no desire to become an active facebook user. The problem with it is, you ultimately can, and will be, judged by the company you keep.

Imagine that everyone gets to know exactly who your most embarassing friend is, and gets to see them at their worst. That's what Facebook can do for you.

agreed, i'm actually thinking of closing my account. seriously, 90% of the people my age are just either texting or on facebook. no joke, when the bell goes for recess and lunch, a group of about 10 people just sit in a circle, get out there phones, and rather than talking in real life, they talk on facebook, and there litterally not even a metre away from each other. thats just sad, really pathetic and people like that frusterate me.

To be honest I am proud of the company I keep, and people who don't like any of my friends or family aren't worth knowing.
All people are different and have different opinions. I don't go to the point of what rfus said but each to their own.
If being narrow minded and hypocritical is your thing feel free....you shouldn't judge everyone by the majority.
People on facebook could say the same about bulletin boards....
Its just a way of chilling out..

I don't like the way people seem to be under the impression that facebook is a less valid means of communication than any other.
I've not been on it long, but people in my year group at school that I wasn't even aware of have added me, which made me feel like I had been being anti-social for not being on it.
Its just too bad teenagers aren't more interesting.

All the negative things are true, but there are positives too. Which way you'll find it depends on how you use it and what you use it for. If you've got friends or family in other countries (and time zones) where phoning isn't always convenient, you can still keep in touch. You do need to set up the privacy settings and you do need to be aware that at least some other people can see what you post (similar to here).

i know, it's all i see too, and in class not to mention.

it has good uses, but to use it for that is just pathetic and sad. say, like fenderstrat said, if people are in other countrys and such, its good. if you actually see each other and still talk on it, somethings wrong with you. not to mention, a dude i hang out with is now constantly on it, an i say "um why dont you go see the person you are talking to in real life?" he says, "dunno". to all those people who are like that, get real. real life is far more interesting than cyber world. the onkly reason i like cyber world is a) sites like this, i can not meet you guys in person. if i could, i would. b) 90% of the time i only use facebook and other social sites to organise something.
