Really depends on house size and wallet size...unfortunately, being a college student, I have little of both (sigh) :(

Well, the house ain't big enough and the wallet ain't big enough, at least these days. Luckily, I have an enabler of a partner in ROCK HOUNDS and he is always buying new and used guitars, telling me they're the greatest and that he's never going to sell them. I mark the date of his latest purchase on a calendar and give him a max of 30 days before he offers to sell it to me. :)

Four of the last five guitars I've bought, again the last was 5-6 months ago, I bought from Ricky. He's a guy who always stumbles into Music-Go-Round or GC just as some down-on-his-luck guitar player stumbles through the door with a filthy (and never in a case) treasure he needs to part with. Rick gets his hands on it and doesn't let go until he's got it safe at home. He sets the guitar up (he's a pro), brings it to practice, takes it to a couple of gigs and shortly after that he's emailing me with a bargain price.

My MN therapist says I need to break away from Ricky, but we've only just reconnected after 40+ years apart - he and I were guitar players in rival bands in the 60s. But where I tend to hold onto most of the guitars I buy, Rick's a guitar turn-style, one after another after another.

Did I mention I have a therapist..?

The correct number is n+1, where n is the number of guitars currently owned. This equation may also be re-written as s-1, where s is the number of guitars owned that would result in separation from your partner.

Nice job. I love math humor.

You are a gentleman and a scalar.

I'm up to 8 guitars. One thing I try to do is get something a little different sounding each time. I like to go for different pickup and fretboard wood combinations. I have 3 Strats that are totally different from each other and 2 Teles that are very different as well.

I try not to get something to close to a guitar I already own.

I could never play just one guitar, not even just one bass. Space is a bit of a problem, hence the little climate controlled cubbyhole off the Music Room.

Fenders on the left, my two basses on the right, everything else in between. There are a few in gig bags on the floor in there. The guitars hanging on the walls don't have cases, so they hang...

i dont see anything wrong with buying as many guitars/amps as you want as long as you or your family arent doing without, and the bills are caught up,
as long as you and your families needs met, lets go buy another. :P
