yes i play for church services they are WILD....

haha I wish ours got wild... I think everyone in the congregation is like over the age of fifty...
Our youth doesn't even get that wild anymore :? It use to be awesome playing for all of them, but now everyone just sits around, texts or talk, while I'm down working my butt off trying to remember scale patterns and such and not screw up...

Being part of the band is still one of my major interests, just wish the rest of the youth shared the same respect for it.

wow i would have been grateful for band members who work hard to help the youth...now we barely even have any cause they work at other churches for money

oh and try the second or fourth position on your pickup switch-> that'll get you a little closer to a "humbucker" sound...

& I play for Bethel Methodist dowtown in the 'burg. Just a little church but I love it.

Yeah, when you think about it, when you use the 2nd or 4th position on your switch, you are combining two single coil pickups into a double, which is what a humbucker is.

Anyway, I always recommend to not get to focused in one kind of music. Try a lot of everything. For any instrument by Fender, any genre should work nicely. Except metal on a tele, I have seen that tried. Dont recommend it.

Hahaha, awww. Metal on a tele? It works, just me. Just... maybe not for whoever you saw try.

Also, I play on my church's worship team too. It's sweet! I have a lot of great musicians I can just pull from, and it's so great; we play the songs, but it's just like a jam band, and it just turns into awesome worship. My church goes nuts. It's amazing.

its kinda funny this week I might start playing electric for the contemporary worship service at my church. The music will be a lot more chill but I'll still have a lot of fun with it too. (It'll be different from youth praiseband for sure)

sad part is one of my friends who lead it is leaving, but he's now directing the worship service for a new church, which is great and will be awesome for him :)

and your right too. a lot of churches will pay for players to do services since they don't have any musicians in their congregation (happens with a lot of new or small churches) We're pretty lucky to be surrounded by other musicians.

Maybe I'll bring some wildness to the Spirit Song services

I have a bullet strat with the H/S/S configuration (Humbucker and 2 single pickups) and it can get over to that Santana-esque sound a little easier than a standard S/S/S strat.

good choices for music, the Squier guitar that you have should sound good whatever music you are playing. Have fun 8)

ARE YOU READY TO ROCK BETHEL!?!?!?!?!?!?
.........................yeah.....

Last week I cheesed one of my solos, then threw down the gauntlet the other time around. 8) It wasn't too bad, and it'll get better once I get more use to the way service rolls.

Any of ya'll doing Lent this year?

I'm giving up Lent for Lent. :D

Seriously though, I don't find Lent to be a useful exercise. It's more of a "traditional" behavior than a "scriptural" behavior. It also seems like a lot of people make a point of sharing what they're doing for Lent ("Hey! Look at me!"). Rather than deal with the distraction of not doing something, I'd rather spend my energy focusing on what I should be doing instead. (like posting on Guitar forums)
