As for playing gospel a Squier Strat should do nicely where it can ring out so clean and clear. For playing Santana and getting his "tone"you'll really need a humbucker equipped guitar to get the weepy, violin like nuances of his playing.

Lincoln Brewster... Amazing guitarist (and the sad thing is that he'll probably never recieve that much credit since he's a christian artist...)

I love it when we do some of his music... gives me a chance to rock out in church.

oh and try the second or fourth position on your pickup switch-> that'll get you a little closer to a "humbucker" sound...

& I play for Bethel Methodist dowtown in the 'burg. Just a little church but I love it.

haha first time I read that I thought "PC," and I was thinking you played for Presbyterian College  Do you enjoy it? Its funny but the praiseband is the only band that I've been a part of for years that has never fallen apart 8) All my other band attempts have been failures.

Thats pretty cool 8) guitar seems to be so dude heavy i never knew any female guitarists (besides a couple of singers who knew like G,C, and D and thats it)

Do you play for your church's services? We are only a youth praiseband, so we only do the youth nights, mission trips, and some special events around town (we're known as the BUMS- Bethel United Methodist Students)

I am with the guy above me. Please turn off the caps lock.
Anyway, I always recommend to not get to focused in one kind of music. Try a lot of everything. For any instrument by Fender, any genre should work nicely. Except metal on a tele, I have seen that tried. Dont recommend it.

haha I wish ours got wild... I think everyone in the congregation is like over the age of fifty...
Our youth doesn't even get that wild anymore :? It use to be awesome playing for all of them, but now everyone just sits around, texts or talk, while I'm down working my butt off trying to remember scale patterns and such and not screw up...

Being part of the band is still one of my major interests, just wish the rest of the youth shared the same respect for it.
