Has anyone caught any of the ongoing Thin Lizzy Euro-tour?

Vivian Campbell and Scott Gorham are the guitarists ...

A mutual freind, Ricky Warwick, is touring with them, I've only seen YouTube footage so far, but I've love to see this tribute to Phil & Gary!

I should have thought to check out Youtube ... but I was busy "finding" a couple of their shows in Germany.

They sound great, by the way.

Did any one catch in the Anvil movie where they met up with Brian Robertson from Thin Lizzy? It was one of those "if you blink, you'll miss it" things. Along those lines, Tommy Aldridge sure looked like hell.

On a tangent: IMHO, today's Thin Lizzie could never be Thin Lizzie for the same reason today's The Who can never be The Who. At best, they respectively sound like a tribute band of the same name. YMMV

It's certainly not the old band.

These guys aren't trying to write, record, and sell "new" music as Thin Lizzy.

We've got three guys from the band and I figure they can play the old songs.
It's probably the best Thin Lizzy Cover/Tribute band out there!

I think of Roger Waters and David Gilmour ... both of them field great Pink Floyd Cover bands! And it wouldn't bother me if they both called their groups Pink Floyd.

Point well taken!

I have struggled through the years with the concept of once-big-time bands limping through the concert circuit with very few of their original members. It becomes more of legal right for some outfits to use the famous names, unfortunately. Buyer Beware.

I hope people wouldn't show up to one of these "Thin Lizzy" shows and expect to see and hear Phil.

Just like I hope people wouldn't show up to the Doors to see Jim,
or Grand Funk to see Farner,
or Ten Years After to see Alvin Lee,
or UFO to see Schenker, or ...

People should know what's being "sold" before they buy their tickets.
For example, I wouldn't buy a Grand Funk ticket, but I would buy one for Farner.

First off, we are talking Thin Lizzy so we already know there will be no Phil. Then you have Scott Gorham, an amazing guitar player that played in TL in their heyday. And then you have Vivian Campbell who is a excellent Irish guitar player in his own right. Add to that (I am assuming here) some ripping drummer and someone who can sing Phil's parts well, and it sounds like you have something worth watching to me.

As for them, going forward and recording new material, I'd be okay with it. At the end of the day they are musicians trying to keep their kids fed, too. I mean, c'mon ... it is Scott friggin' Gorham afterall.

Just my opinion ..
