I used my girlfriend's colorless nail polish to cover a major ding on my Les Paul Jr. back in the late '60s and haven't touched it since. It worked great!

Nail polish also works great for preventing hardware on your amp from getting loose. It is the idal alternative to loctite.

I used to use nail polish to repair small tears in speaker cones too.

this is a great idea

i work in the hair and nail industry. i probably have 30 bottles of nail polish around.

the problem is that none of my guitars have a ding in them. i'll just have to wait to see if it works

Nail varnish is also good for nails. Ain't a man amongst us hasn't raided his wife/girlfriend's nail repair kit at some point or other, when the finger picking just got a little too enthusiastic.

...And I do love the smell of nail varnish remover in the morning. 8)

Cheers - C

I had a couple very small chips on my sienna red stratocaster. I found a nail polish color called merlot that was an almost perfect match. The polish isn't as hard as the poly on the guitar so it will rub down to blend in nicely with the original finish.
