The tremolo is locked and I cannot figure out how to unlock it... any advice ??

I just picked up a guitar with the same tremolo. What do you mean by locked? Are the tremolo claw screws tightened all the way into the body? How many springs are installed?

Or do you mean the arm is stuck? You can adjust how snug the arm fits into the tremolo hole. These guitars came with a wrench for this adjustment. Here is a video I saw on youtube that shows the adjustment process. Hope this helps.
