Hey guys.

Just a heads up our lovely city of Christchurch has been hit by another serious earthquake. Some may remember that they had a 7.1 quake last September just gone, no-one perished. A weaker quake this time, but it struck during the day this time instead of the night, making todays a fatal disaster. 65 death toll so far- the heart sinks for our lost souls- may our lord have mercy on them all. The quake was centred 2km below the surface just kilometres from the centre of the city.

Weakened structures from last september's quake have come crashing down, roads are torn apart again, and the city is now a state of ruin. There wouldn't be a single building unscathed now. The centre of the city, Christchurch Cathedrel is ruined and like I said, many buildings in the CBD have come crashing down. The rest I guess most will be condemned permanently untill destroyed.

Last time this happened, we decided not to accept help offshore, but this time we are a little more humbled and are accepting help from Australia and the U.S.

Our Prime Minister is on top of it all as usual, but he has declared today as NZ's darkest day.

Many tragic stories, heroic stories, and also an old farmer who's annoyed his sheep escaped from the paddock.

A Mate of mine on Facebook has just advised that he is OK, his power has just been switched back on and now can he enjoy a cold beer. Typical Southlander.

It makes you question. Australia & NZ has had floods, hundreds of Earthquakes & shocks, major flooding, mine disasters and Cat 5 Cyclone with a bunch of smaller cyclones and storms to boot. All in a days work really. But what is going on- seems mother nature is getting her own back.

So this one goes out to our people of Christchurch and to all of New Zealand. This songn titled after an Auckland landmark has a place in all of us. To all who perished today.

the theory is earth is going through an electro-magnetic shift, the upper mid-west is getting way too cold to inhabit we may all have to relocate to Costa Rica, if we see each other there lets jam.

Yeah this is terrible news, I have a good friend out there and I've been trying to get hold of her, as have others but no news yet. However she is a flight attendant so theres a decent chance she's away on a flight rather than home, and unable to get in contact! Hoping to hear news soon.

Best wishes to anyone out there.

Just told my wife I had to get on line and find out how you Kiwis were getting on after the news came across the screen. Good to know that this finds you both well. Regret the loss of life.

Doc.

Hi Blertles: we woke up to this horrible news. Glad to hear that you're OK and good wishes for any other NZ Forum users who may be affected. And to all Kiwis in general.

Good luck to you all - C
