hey mike,

im still in the middle of reading it. It's hard to put down, amazing stuff in this book. I make sure i read at least an hour of it every night before calling it quits. Keith Richards is an awesome musician, some of the stuff he's had to endure i could never think of doing

Definitely getting the book - but 21st century style - on my wife's ipad if possible.
I grew up in Arkansas and just returned this last weekend to play my strat in a gig in Little Rock. What town were they busted in again? Please don't say google it, too lazy at this moment.
Cheers

Keef is a huge Chuck "DuckWalk" Berry fan.

I recalled ol' Chuck punching him in the face and burning his T-shirt because he tried to teach him "the real way to play Johnny B. Goode"..

Indeed.

Chuck Berry is a real "pinnacle" of his community......

(from Wikipedia)

"In the late 1980s, Berry bought a restaurant in Wentzville, Missouri, called The Southern Air, and in 1990 he was sued by several women who claimed that he had installed a video camera in the ladies' bathroom. Berry claimed that he had the camera installed to catch red-handed a worker who was suspected of stealing from the restaurant. Though his guilt was never proven in court, Berry opted for a class action settlement with 59 women. Berry's biographer, Bruce Pegg, estimated that it cost Berry over $1.2 million plus legal fees. It was during this time that he began using Wayne T. Schoeneberg as his legal counsel. Reportedly, a police raid on his house did find videotapes of women using the restroom, and one of the women was a minor. Also found in the raid were 62 grams of marijuana. Felony drug and child-abuse charges were filed. In order to avoid the child-abuse charges, Berry agreed to plead guilty to misdemeanor possession of marijuana. He was given a six-month suspended jail sentence, two years' unsupervised probation, and ordered to donate $5,000 to a local hospital."

Glad he's not my next-door neighbor!

That pic of Keef & Chuck brings back to my mind the movie "Hail, Hail Rock & Roll!"

One of the things that struck me greatly about that flick was the fact that Keith sounded almost exactly like Chuck Berry, even though Chuck was using a semi-hollow Gibson with humbuckers & a rosewood fretboard and Keith was using a Tele with single coils & a maple fretboard...

It goes to prove my argument that the gear isn't as important as the player. If you want to get another guy's tone, play like him...the same axe/amp/effect helps get you closer but it won't work to meet your goal unless you can play like the guy.

Chuck is mainly a Gibson player.

However, during his latest tours he picked up a black Strat with a matching headstock in the middle of a gig. This is not the first time Chuck played Strats onstage, there are tons of photos showing him with a Fender guitar on his hands, such as this butterscotch blackguard Tele.
