I've never seen a pick change the tone so much and I was playng an electric unplugged, Imagine what it will do with the guitar tone pot and fx effects, plus the amps effects. It's just another way of modding your tone. And each size v-pick is different sounding. Maybe I'm just easy to impress. I like new gadgets etc.

I just got the v-pick fab four and I completely agree with your assessment. The thing that struck me is that the thick pick gives you a lot of tone while the v-shaped edge keeps the pick from hanging up on the strings. It really lets you dig in more than you can with other thick picks.

All four of the picks I got are great, but my favorites are the large and medium rounded.

I recently got the v-pick large rounded, and have found that it does give some interesting tones and seems to make more contact with the string. I like the sounds I can get from using the side of the pick more. Good recommendation. Still trying to figure out which I like better, v-pick or dunlop tortex purple, I think I'll be practicing with them both.

I use Dunlop Tortex SHARPs in the 0.88mm size, however, Vinni from V-picks is hooking me up with a couple of his picks to try out. Can't wait to give them a shot after the great stuff I have been hearing about them on this forum, and a few others as well...

I guess some things are like decent leather boots or my favorite breakfast cereal, Frosted Rice Krispies...... LOL, did I lose you?
What I mean is, in my neck of the woods, I have to travel some distance to find a shoe store or western shop that carries decent leather boots, especially since places like Wal*Mart & a local type Army-Navy don't sell them anymore. My cereal? Similar problem at local groceries that try to tell me Kellogg doesn't make it anymore. BULL DUTY! I can get FROSTED Rice Krispies at Wal*Mart...... still lost?

OK..... my personal choice of METAL picks (stainless steel) aren't available even at a giant Guitar Center! These days I have to get them off the web. How can anyone even try them to see WHY I use them and HAVE for over 25 years. I was inspired by Billy Gibbon's sound and read how he placed Pesos on RR tracks to flatten them out. (probably a rumor, but it's a good story) Anyway...... when the only ones that are APPARENTLY available, all the plastic, shell & some rubber-based types, how can anyone even know about them? I stand by stainless steel picks and challenge anyone out there to try them and see their advantages. Check with Silver Spring Music on eBay: item 250238833198 is ALICE metal picks. If you are into harmonics, give them a chance as they do take a bit to get used to. If you use super light strings (.008 for high E) and tend to 'cut' sideways with your pick, you probably will chop it. Otherwise, I can't imagine any other issues, except if you REALLY play HARD, because you use a thin WHIMPY flutter pick. If you want to put some ZZ Top BALLS in your playing, GET some METAL picks!
Look.... the strings are metal, the bridge most likely is and maybe even the nut (LSR Roller type?) So..... doesn't it make sense???

I just ordered the Fab Four V-Pick package as well as the Screamer. I also called the number and actually spoke to Vinnie- I love when someone backs up what they say. He is a genuinely cool guy to talk to.
Chet, I gave you kudos and told Vinnie how you refer folks to his website all the time. He said," yeah I know Chet" - so I hope that helps Bro... I can't wait to try them out.

Me too. I've been using the old Lake Placid Blue or tortoiseshell Mediums for decades. I'll stray and try something new, but I always seem to come back to the Fender Mediums. Recently, I picked up some Thin abalone premium celluloid picks. The tone is brighter, but I seem to play faster.

Been using brass pick shaped necklace pendants for 3 years now. Nothing sounds like metal on metal.

Niki Ninja: FINALLY! Thanks for being a metal pick user..... I thought it was just me & Billy Gibbons there for a while. Check at Silver Spring Music on eBay. They have Stainless Steel picks in quantity that are much less per pick than pendant types. 20 are only $12.00 and 100 are $40 bucks. If you prefer something heavier, there's a new composite type that I've seen with a 'sure-grip' and a flex tip I'm planning on getting called DAVA. They also have 6 metal picks in a pack from bartoc_store at less than $6.00 and 4 TECHPICKs with triple grip holes from picks4u2 for the same cash.
Besides the pendant types, you can even get real 'Coin' cut-downs.

Metal on Metal is the only way to ROCK! 8)
