V-Pick

Freakishly large.

Same one for about three years now.

i've got enough to last a long time now. sorry I took so long to respond but had to run a virus program as I was being attacked. This has happened several times this week while using this site, I wonder if Fender being shut down several times also has anything to do with it? Wierd!
Oh well fixed for now. :?

I use what people seem to call "bass picks." The 2-3mm Dunlop "Big Stubby" pick. The great thing about them is, nobody steals my picks when they're using/done using them. :P

I've never seen a pick change the tone so much and I was playng an electric unplugged, Imagine what it will do with the guitar tone pot and fx effects, plus the amps effects. It's just another way of modding your tone. And each size v-pick is different sounding. Maybe I'm just easy to impress. I like new gadgets etc.

I use Stainless Steel picks.... Alice brand from Silver Spring Music. Unlike Billy Gibbons in the day, I don't have easy access to Pesos, nor well-traveled RR tracks, LOL
Once you get used to them, they make harmonics easier to achieve and we can't forget what steel players use to get their sound.

I found some really cool(as cool as a pick can be I suppose) picks. They say Wedge on them, so maybe the company name. They are indented on one side for your thumb to fit nicly into with a texure differnce to help you hold them.

I still use Fender Thins and Mediums. But I've started to play with V-Picks.

I got the FabFour pack. I like the Large Rounded and Freakishly Large Rounded best of the 4.

can you tell any difference in tone? play a chord slowly and change picks each time and let me know if you hear a difference.

I've got a bunch, but the 2 I use the most used to belong to my dad when he had his guitar in the 60s & 70s: white Fender medium picks!

Oh yeah, vintage picks. 8)

I use Dunlop U.S.A ULTEX 1.14.

They don't make too much ring.

I use Dunlop Jazz III.

I am ready to believe that an agate pick, a silver pick, or a plexiglass pick can get great tone, but I can't bring myself to pony up the bucks for something that expensive...kind of like $175 guitar straps.

Individually, stainless steel picks are about a dollar apiece. They last forever..... in 'bulk' they're almost half that, about 60 cents each, or 20 for $12.
In general, we tend to go initially cheap on certain products, but end up spending much more in the long run. I will bet active guitarists spend $12 on picks in less than a year, easy, and not even realize it. Many use up, loose or toss basic-type picks in one gig and there goes a buck's worth every time. Multiply that by the number of gigs played and it can add up sizably. I still have the 20 I bought a long time ago. Besides, your bridge is metal, so are the strings and maybe even the nut. It stands to reason to use metal as a pick, just ask Billy Gibbons. > Metal picks make it a lot easier to attain harmonics. <
