I was just inquiring to what you guys feel about the speed limit. Do y'all usually follow the speed limit? Go 5 over? What do you do considering the speed limit?

I personally on major roads go about 5 over. And on highways got 10 over. In neighborhoods I go the speedlimit; mostly under it actually.

Thought this would be an interesting topic that hasn't been covered before.

30-40 = 40-50
40-50 = 60 - 65
55+ = 70+

i dont like being in the car with my dad driving......

When I'm on the road, I just cruise. I always leave myself plenty of time to get where I'm going and I feel no need to speed. I typically keep it around the limit. The racetrack on the other hand is a different story... 8)

When I was a young man I had a heavy foot but an even heavier wrist. Lost my license for excessive speed. Twice. Could have been a third time in the spring of 2000 but I had a friendly veteran cop instead of a crusading rookie. He clocked me on the Beemer going 165 kms/hr (≈102mph) and only cited me for 125. Limit was 100. Had he caught me 20 seconds earlier I prolly woulda gone to jail. Had her wound out W.F.O. at 280 kms/hr (≈175mph). ☺

I pretty much go the posted limit these days.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

5 mph over the limit is probably the speed of traffic. if a trooper passes you follow the trooper they usually have vehicles following them. on residential streets going the posted limit is the best choice IMHO YMMV

It really depends where you are. In Seattle I don't go more than 5 over, but in LA I go well over the speed limit, because if you don't you're kind of weird. You can go 15 over on the Freeways in LA without getting a ticket (usually) and 5-10 over on normal roads without getting a ticket (usually).

In my almost 40 years of driving I've only gotten 2 speeding tickets even though I habitually drive a good bit over the limit-but only when traffic is light or almost nil.The rest of the time lets say there's nobody behind me,cursing me for driving too slow. I drive only as fast as conditions allow and don't take unnecessary chances especially in snow, rain or icy conditions.

in NZ where the limits are 50km in towns and cities and 100km on open roads, i use the 10% rule, so 55 and 110

I live in the country so mainly 60 MPH limit or less…Don’t pay any attention to what the signs say...............Two things determine my driving speed.

Road conditions/traffic around. Which car I am driving… Oh, one more, if I’m late for the Tee..

Maybe that’s why I have two speeding convictions. You would thing I’d learn.

Like loud Guitar sometimes you just have the urge. Well I do.

To be honest, i think the best thing to do is to just go the speed of traffic.

I try to go the speed limit as much as possible anymore. I could have bought several new guitars for what Ive paid in speeding tickets.
