Hi everyone, just had to ask this ?, I've got a epiphone biscut that I play some slide on
and I was thinking of mabey putting a pup in it 1/2 " from the neck base, it's a solid 1/8"
mohogany top, hell the whole guitar is mahog, and sounds really good, very nice but when
I sit down with others who are pluged in I get drowned out.
My cure for this was to set up my melody maker for slide which works great with that
P90 in it, and knows no limits volume wise, but I can't get that same steel sutalness that
I can with the biscut.
Whould there be a pup that whould be right for this application and still retaine the sound
and tones of the guitar, and I have miked it through a shure57 &pa but it didn't work out
all that great to me and runin through my pevey isn't cuting it either.
I know you can buy them with neck mount pup, but this biscut only cost me 447 new and
it has really grown on me, want to keep it, just want to turn it up knotch but not shure
how. thanks to all.

You're going to find there are a million other people trying to find the same thing (an amplified dobro).

If I understand your post correctly, there is a pickup on the cone/biscuit of your guitar, right?

You might need to run that pickup through an acoustic preamp to make it work properly.

As far as a "neck" pickup, you might try a pressure/stick-on acoustic pickup. People have varying degrees of success with such devices. None of them really sound like a dobro amplified, unfortunately.

Please post what you find out, if anything.
