i was just looking over the grammy award winners and saw the Muse beat out the new Tom Petty album and the new Pearl Jam album. How? How the hell is Muse rock? I would put them into the alternative category with Radiohead. Is this what passes for rock today? Seriously, this is why i don't watch the Grammys.

Yeah, I'd say they're a little on the rock side, but definitely more of an alternative type sound. I'm not really surprised they beat Petty and Pearl Jam (who both put out awesome albums), because they are more popular with the younger crowd than either Petty or PJ these days. I would have liked for Pearl Jam to win one, but I really don't pay too much mind to award ceremonies these days. I typically disagree with 9 out of 10 winners anyway...lol.

I think that the grammy's have much more to do with dollars and cents than talent.

Grunge,punk and alternative are all forms of rock so an alternative group would qualify. All these awards shows have become sad parodies of what they used to be.Today's awards are more like fashion shows than talent awards so I pay no attention to them.Someone in the awards voting process must have known what they were doing in one case,Arcade Fire are one of the best up and coming acts of rock music today and it's good to see them recognized for their talent moreso than for what they wear or look like.

Are you joking? you think muse arnt rock, Matt Bellamys a genius. He plays keyboards/guitar and can sing a bit too.

The others in the lineup arnt shabby either. For the record i never watch or take any notice of awards programmes and im a confirmed Pearl Jam fan and have been for years but you gotta be realistic when trying to "catogorise" bands ie its almost impossible.

Muse does have talant. Not a style I would sit down and listen or jam to. They do have talant and are interesting. I said interesting (good is a matter of opinion). Peace!

I didn't even notice the Grammys had occured. Doesn't really even matter -- most modern music is absolutely dreadful. It's really depressing to know that the best rock and country music made occured before I was born.

In the meantime, I'll continue listening to Buddy Holly on my iphone and then switch to some Elvis, Clapton or Willie...
