Electra made me blind........Everclear. 8) Nice Ax. Although I'm not a bass player by choice, I've player a jazz. I find them a little too narrow at the nut. I prefer the Precision. I have a good friend who plays Bass. All he plays is Fender Jazz. Swears by it. I don't think he's ever owned any other. Congrats, enjoy.

I've been using 45-105 for a long time. I tried a couple sets of Rotos that were larger guage and they pulled the neck too much for me. Rotos are pretty stiff strings. They are not "rubbery" like Ernie Balls or some others. I had to tweek the neck to get it to lay back down. I ended up going back to the 105's. I thought the larger guage put more pressure on the neck than I wanted. The heavier strings were maybe just a little louder. The E was too fat for the nut and I had to widen it a little.

from one bassman to another, it is stunning!
I currently play around with my MIM Jazz (at 60 I don't gig anymore but still play around) otherwise I would have an AM Jazz.

But in the olden days I had a few AM Jazz basses, one looked exactly like yours & it was my all time fav...

congrats!!

Hey- it looks like they are putting clearcoat on the fretboard on new basses. Is the back of the neck clearcoat or smoothe/Flat??

I would go check one out but the GC and SA are way far away. It seems like they are the only stores that carry new Fenders anymore.

I love the sound of a Jazz played well. I'm not knocking the P,
but a Jazz seems to have more of that "gnarly" sound when
played well.

Congrats! Have fun with it.

Here's a couple of photos of the new kid in town. It plays great, and the neck action is amazing.

Congratulations fjbass, my back-up bass was a Jazz bass for about 8 months and if I didn't have a Precision bass I would want that Jazz bass. I like the standard neck on the Precision but there are sounds and tones only a Jazz bass can produce.

Lovely bass, best of fortune for decades of fun.

Interesting name...rooted in Greek mythology, Electra and her brother pltted revenge for murder of ther father...there's a play by Sophocles about it.

If that freaks you out, there's also a sea-nymph of the same name, as well as a star in the constellation, Taurus.

Guess who likes names and their origins...?

I love Ampeg. They are fat. They are easy to move around ( comparitively speaking) and they have the sound. Nice little amp you got there.
