Hilarious and I agree.

That shows how knowledgeable Kanye West is:

Depp is not uncanny when it comes to the guitar. I believe he spent quite some time in bands before his acting career took off. :-)

Anyway, go Johnny, go!

Indeed on both counts :)
Mr Depp was on Oasis' Be Here Now Album playing guitar and did so on the Once Upon A Time In Mexico soundtrack :)

Well, my Grammy also wonders when John Mayer decided to start looking like Johnny Depp.

GUYS. I bought my Fender acoustic Jr. from the coffee salesman at work. I dontt have any of the manuals or userguides. I love the way my Talman sounds and the mic does well also. What I am wondering is if I can output my sound from my amp straight to the back of my pc at home and use it on a website i have friends with and play live. Any HELP? Thank You, Mark :D

Precisely. Good link, Mike.

I seen backroom awards decisions. Smoozing, stroking, unrelated deals, and promises for the votes amongst other things. Payola comes in many forms and is alive and well. Buying up the media doesn’t need Alan Freed or Dick Clark, and you’ll soon be pushed into following what or who is presented. Support and misdirection of artists and their selection and production of material to boost or diminish another along timelines, and much more proven methods of control are common. It gets complicated, and yet it’s also simple. In fact sometimes it is formulated.

First off . . . awards are about money, and they are a show just like the cat walk. Everybody wants to be either on the cat walk or in the front row. Some reality, some glamour, some fantasy, and some head shakin’.

Like others here, I’ve had close contact with award winners and losers. This includes Grammy winners. The sad thing about these awards are that it takes away from the many fine folk who without question are worthy of the award without the Tom foolery and morons who stack the deck and shuffle from the bottom of the selection.

Me? I don’t bother with the fiction anymore with exceptions. Always good for a laugh,

You got it, FSB, too much drama, for example Aerosmith is not allowing their regular
drummer for 40+ years, Joey Kramer to perform with them at the Grammys due to an
injury he had but has now healed.

I truly hope this feud heals in the near future, They all have to know that these things come with the territory. Two things that can hurt a band more than anything is letting a member go or having a member who leaves. There is a fan base to consider. Some people gravitate towards the mouth harp player.

I’ve never subscribed to performance being 90% of the show and musicianship being 10%; but, I do know that there is some validity here based on production experience, and I know that the marketing of pop and shoddy rap can equally have questionable successes based on something other than music talent. Many similar examples would support that theory. Besides, even the King had tough nights with his lyrics and vocals, and later his habits, but the show, and quite a show, continued. Besides, he was Elvis! A replacement just wouldn't do. His fans came to see Elvis and not someone else.

Still, sometimes replacement works out for the better with bands, The Beatles had many choices for a good and even a great drummer. Not that Ringo wasn’t good before he was great in some people’s mind; but, no doubt he was first chosen for his swag rather than his excellence. Conversely, we have The Wrecking Crew, Hal Blaine, his bandmates, and it wouldn’t matter to the audience whether they were cool or replaced or even if they got credit. Well, there’s a change for ya. Not only did they finally get recognized and credited, but they’re now known as cool to those who were unfamiliar with these magnificent musicians. Ditto for the Funk Brothers with two drummers. :P
How many Grammys are enough for these geniuses, and how many of those little gramophones shouldn’t have been picked up by others without them? Maybe, it’s just as well, They’d have to hire a trucking company for all the booty these studio musicians (and others) deserved,

Could someone have replaced Ringo? How about Neil Peart? Maybe. But, few would disagree that with drummers Ringo was the Beatles (some would say Pete Best, but that’s another story). I also think it's safe to say that Neil, with both his skill and showmanship,
was Rush. It’s important to say that both drummers were the second drummers in their respective band, and it was these two who, for whatever reason, brought the most success to the bands. This is where awards come to the front of the stage.

That said. Personal issues and historical problems are one thing; but if a team before or behind a project is to be awarded it is, when possible, the team that made the original creation that should accept it IMHO and maybe include those that followed only after that possibility is exhausted, Don’t expect it to always happen though. It’s an award up for grabs, and grabbing will continue.

As for performance, the best might be desirable, but even the best when not at the peak of their game deserve a shot. No one is going to tell Willie or Dylan or any other of their like to get off stage.
Play a drum track if need be . . . and fake it. Even Linda McCartney got to sing. Well, sorta.

Drama queens!

They wouldn't even let Kramer into the building where rehearsals were going on.

His replacement is his own drum tech!

Thanks, for the link, Mike. Looks like the performances are like icing on the cake. That boiled icing looks to be good as usual, but the cake except for the limited filling (of worthy recipients) is crumby.
