A few weeks ago my amplifier developed a loud buzz/hum which got worse when the chorus button was pressed and the 5th and 6th string became distorted through the amp - from the Forum I gathered the cause was the mains input electrolytic capacitors suffering a dry solder joint. I found the dry joint on one of the two capacitors and resoldered it and the amp worked perfectly.

Then a few days ago the same fault occurred !!

When I investigated the problem I found another dry joint on the other capacitor, so I am passing on this tip: IF YOU FIND ONE DRY JOINT ON ONE OF THE TWO MAINS INPUT ELECTROLYTIC CAPACITORS, BE SURE TO RESOLDER ALL FOUR JOINTS.

Hope this tip will save someone else the trouble of taking their amplifier to bits again after the curing the first fault.

All the Fender amps around this time are known for dry solder joint. I have seen many of them with this issue
