I picked up a Vox Night Train 15w head and Egnater Rebel 1x12 cab last Saturday. I have'nt had much time to do more than make sure it works properly, so far I like what I hear. I bought it to use a few times a year so it's not my main rig, it will be more of a personal monitor in some venues. Anybody else have one? I'm on my way to my man cave to wring it out with a few guitars. So far it seems to work well with my Boss ME-70 board and my Tele sounds really sweet through it. I'll play a few guitars through it and let you know if you're interested :D

I've read nothing but rave reviews of the Night Train, would be interested in hearing your opinion using different guitars.BTW why did you opt for the Egnator rather than the Celestion equipped Vox cabinet?

Hi Guitslinger, I think my cab has a Celestion in it. The GC were I bought it was out of stock on the Vox cab. I tried an Egnater cab in the same price and spec range as the Vox, and the Egnater Rebel cab, and the Rebel was a better sounding cab. I tried an AM Deluxe Tele, PRS McCarty, 52 Hot Rod Tele, Am Deluxe Strat, modded MIM Strat, Epi Elitist Les Paul, and an Epi Sheraton, I think they all sounded real good. I think the Deluxe Tele and the Les Paul sounded outstanding. The amp definitly made a big difference in my Deluxe Strat. I normally play direct into the sound system, but I think I might try to find a way to use an amp more often. I have a Hughes& Kettner tube amp but for some things it's just too big (I love that H&K though), for a small venue you cant really get the tubes glowing. I think this Vox will do quiet nicely.

I absolutely love my Night Train. I have it paired with a White Box cab with a 12 inch Eminence Man O' War. It has all that cool British chime but can really get dirty if you want. I like the simplicity of the Night Train. It's built well, has obvious portability without sounding like it does. It's plenty loud too. I love it!

The more I play through mine the more I like what I'm hearing. I will be using it in a live setting in a few weeks, I am looking forward to it.

That's absolutely sick:
you guys and your fantastic amps.
Here I am with my Line 6 SpiderJam and have tears in my eyes.
Arent you ashamed of your selves?
Just a joke     8) I call this little girl My little BRAT-and she can knock the windows right out of the house if she wants to and you can set her up to sound like what ever you want. That full 75 wts. of pure kick a@$% is OK. :)

Congrats, that sounds like a nice set. I would be interested to know what guitar has the most dynamic or organic sound through it.

Hi guys, well I've been using my night train for a little while now and I must say I am verry happy with it. I've played out with it a few times and I play a PRS McCarty most of the time, I like what I hear, and I like the fact that it's lower wattage than my Hughes & Kettner.
Just yesterday I did a side by side comparison with the Vox and H&K, the H&K definitly has more punch and better overall sound. Having said that I must say that the Vox aint no slouch, I will still use it at smaller venues and I don't think it will be a deal breaker when we play. I have played an Am. deluxe Tele, '52 hot rod Tele, Am.deluxe Strat, MIM Strat, PRS, Epi Elitist LP, and Epi 56 reissue LP through the Vox and I think they all sound good. To my ears the PRS and Strats are my favs, but like I said that's just my ears. Overall I am very happy with my Vox.

the vox is pretty cool. im starting to really like them a lot.
had an opportunity to get one on the cheap last summer and didnt do it.
i wasnt yet of the mindset of good things/small packages. didnt even try it out.
how stupid was that right.
now as for H&K, cant find them around here. i saw a youtube vid or their ann. guitar amp.
ive yet to see one. eyes are pealed looking. i want to try it out so bad. they use to make killer stuff, havent played them in a number of yrs. which model do you have?

Hi waycool, I have the 20th anniversary tube amp, the thing is built like a tank. Some of the sweetest clean tones you could ask for.

I would'nt say it has what I consider a good metal sound, but it can certanly do hard and classic rock. For uber metal you might need to add a pedal.
