I've never paid much attention to him,but the funniest thing I've heard about him is that Bonnie Bramlett slapped the fire out of him for saying something smart to her.

Yup, EC has made some stupid remarks in public...(don't they all!) and been called on it.
Heavy drinking part of his career I think he blamed it on...

Fame does crazy things to some people. :?

I admire what he has accomplished but I'd have to say that maybe my musical taste isn't as advanced as it should be to really enjoy his work.

I just saw Elvis and the Sugarcanes last summer at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass in Golden Gate Park, SF. Great set, great band including Jerry Douglas and Stuart Duncan. Elvis had a bunch of beautiful vintage guitars he used including a Gretch four string tenor guitar.

I've seen Elvis and I've seen the genius of Jerry Douglas, but not together...that must have been quite a show!

my comment or the statement?

never was a EC fan. cant stand his voice, nor his playing, but that doesnt mean he wasnt good at what he does, it just means he wasnt for me.

read my above post and you will answer your own question as far as the statement goes.

Could be me... I believe that Clover (including Sean Hopper) but without Huey Lewis Backed EC on the first record. After that I think that Hopper and Lewis formed Huey Lewis and the news... So I think were both on the right track

I have a friend in Florida who has a really serious 'like' for her.

Here's my E.C. I live in Hawaii, Maui to be specific. So in 1979 when I first heard E.C. I went for the new wave stuff hard. While on a mainland trip I happened in to a mom and pop music store. There was a 1963 Jazzmaster with the original case. The owner of the story said the owner just traded it in on a new guitar One owner! He wanted $250 bucks..Needless to say i got it. Back to Maui few weeks later. Wait the story gets better. In Lahaina harbor where my my dad kept his boat for years, there was a fishing boat called THE WHITE WITCH, right next to our boat, who's captains name is Jim Lindersmite ( spelling). The guy was a complete Di*K.As a kid I was scared of him, always fighting and stuff. however he was hooked up with Stephen Stills and went on tour as a body guard or some such thing. Some of you may remember when E.C. got punched for a drunken remark in a bar in the Midwest? Well Jim was the guy who punched E.C. When I read about it, I remember Jim beating up an old fisher men one morning.. What a *****. So..there's more. A few years back when E.C. was touring with a big band they came to Honolulu and the Honolulu Symphony played with him. As luck would have it the put a Maui date ( just Elvis and Steve) on the tour. So I got my self in row 9 just off center. It was a kinda rainy night trade winds blowing.. Crap the power go's off.. So we wait and wait for it to come back on. All of the sudden out walk's Elvis and Steve. They go to the court yard Elvis with a guitar and Steve with a kinda key board you blow in to . A guy is holding a Megaphone for Elvis to sing and him and Steve do 3 or 4 songs. I was like 6 feet from Elvis, me a guy from a little Island in the Pacific.. Well Maui Electric got the power back on. And he says do you want to stay out side or go back in?? We all said INSIDE.. Where he want on to play and play even took requests... That man still loves to play for his fans. How many performers would of just went back to the hotels and never looked back.. MarkDavid

I love Elvis Costello. He seems to have had a fire lit under him lately, his last two albums have been ferocious, so goddamn good, maybe the best in his career. National Ransom is so fierce and angry and just so goddamn good.
