Peoples thoughts on Reverb Pedals with non reverb fender tube amp? Waste of time? The Boss? Line 6? Holly Grail? Why is the grail so expensive? Is the wiring in it anything like a amp rev tank?

Mr Springgy gets a lot of great reviews. I just use a patch from my Korg multi-fx. I have a bank of reverbs (hall, room, plate, arena...) with different settings that I tweak to best go with the room acoustics.

I love my Mr Springgy.

VanAmps also makes very good but more expensive reverb pedals.

Ahhh, some day, waiting for a deal on a real Fender tube reverb unit.

The Electro Harmonix Cathedral would be my first choice for a reverb pedal as it also has a delay feature and costs less than a lot of simple reverb pedals.

I did the EH holy grail in big box wall wart mode for a couple of years and it always sounded decent when it worked. However most of the time it had issues with not working and I had to disconnect it and switch it on and off several times to get it running.

As for no reverb with "non reverb Fenders" I have a clone 5e3 of a Fender 50s Tweed Deluxe that has no use for reverb. By that I mean it has tube rectifier sag which gives it a slower decay which fools the ear in thinking it has more sustain. This is evident at moderate to high volumes, and even at lower volumes it sags. Hence, since I got the 5e3 I don't even miss reverb anymore. With this amp I do not use reverb. It would not be right. It would be like a woman with 3 nipples.
